Ferry vs monorail

It probably depends on timing....how long you wait for each to arrive, unload and then board. We always take the boat to MK and the monorail back. Not sure why, just tradition for us.

Were you looking at a specific time....ie- rope drop?

Depends on the time of day, how many people are in line ahead of you, whether you are in line for the express or the resort monorail, whether both monorails are running, whether both monorails are operational, whether or not a squirrel is on the track......

All else being equal, we usually take the ferry from the TTC. One ferry can swallow a huge crowd at once, while the monorail- not so much.

Monorail to the park, ferry back to the parking lots. The ferry it is a really nice ride.

Make sure you also go on the paddle wheeler, the entrance is nearly next to the entrance to the haunted mansion. It is also a really nice simple ride that you can relax on.

Have a great time. :wave2:

On our last visit a Ferry CM told us the following

- Ferries can hold 600 people; Monorails 200

- a ferry ride takes 7 1/2 minutes (one would assume on a good not too windy day)

We like both - the ferry is great with fresh air.

Monorail feels faster except when it stops....in between stops.....

I usually do monorail to the MK and ferry back since we usually exit the MK after Wishes with the mob and the monorail line always looks huge so I opt for the ferry which holds a lot of people.

We always take the ferry to the park in the morning and the monorail all other times. We have seen many problems with the monorail not operating correctly in the morning over the past few years. We saw a group smashed in there for 15 minutes before it even left the station and the CM's eventually sent those of us waiting in line to the resort monorail - which takes longer than the ferry. I have heard CM's state that they frequently have issues in the morning.

Always take the ferry in the morning!

I love the ferry. Or just boats in general. Plus the transportation wizard says it's quicker.

Is one way faster to get to and from the MK than the other?

*S* have to smile....looking at the answers so far....did you get your answer?? From my perspective it comes down to what you enjoy when you compare everything it all depends on your timing.

Depends on the timing.
Personally I think the monorail is quicker but the ferry is a nice ride. :rolleyes1

I personally think that the Monorail is quicker.....I have never timed though.....

Used to always go by monorail, but the last couple years we have been going by ferry because there is less chance of a delay for whatever reason.

I have watched them leave and then arrive at the magic kingdom and its real close. But is anything more refreshing than a ride at the front of MV's Potter, Irwin, or Fowler with the cool breaze after Wishes, its the icing on a beautiful day. I usually take the Ferry to and from the parking lot, but the Monorail if I'm parkhopping.

Do the ferries run if it is storming? I know I was trying to get back to BWI from EP international gate once and there was lightening so they shut down the boats and we had to walk through the lightening and thunder. Scary!
