I was just looking at the map of the Polynesian and noticed two boat launching areas? One is labelled to go to MK, but the other one just says "ferry boat". Where does this go?

Those are the boats that go to and from the Transportation and Ticket Center to MK. I don't think it's accessable from the beach. I think you have to walk up and through the TTT to get on the boat.

You do have to walk to the TTC but it is a very short walk from the Polynesian. Closer than the express monorail. The ferry boat ride is fast too. I especially like taking it back to the Poly midday. The ferry is rather empty that time of day leaving the MK and it is the fastest way of all back to the Poly if you don't have to wait for a ferry.

It's been a few years since I stayed at the Poly but there was a water taxi that left from the Poly dock. It was pretty quick although I do seem to remember it stopping at the GF during the day but not at the busy times .

the boat from the Polynesian to the MK runs every day and stops at the GF on the way back to the Polynesian. There is no reason to take the ferry with the boat and the monorail.

There is every reason if you have a wheelchair, ECV or even a stroller that you don't want to fold up on the launch. The ferry is fun and very fast....not as fun as the launches but quite a bit faster especially when they only are operating one launch. It is also a shorter walk for those in Rapa Nui or the eastern part of Tahiti. Try it you might like it!
