i am back from my trip to disney world. and i got to say i worried a lot. but for the most part it was GREAT.and First aid was always very wonderful and helpful!! i know i was with family and that made it even better. there were only 2 insidences that were not great! one is i was told that the peter pan ride is an ambulatory ride and they are" changing it" i think it was just one cranky incorrect cast member because after he insisted there was no way i could get on unless i could walk 20 feet ,a woman at the HANDICAP entrance said they could stop the rideand i can transfer on. .. well at this point the other guy wasnt gonna go back on what he said ... so i didnt end up on this. and someone claims they will be changing it to ambulatory . i have a feeling this was just a cover up.. anyhow .. not a big deal.. THEN there was a really BAD cm who isnisted i get on pirates of the caribian in row 1 . i even mentioned that row 6 was the widr one and we could turn the chair for easier transfer. well he didnt want to hear it (,or didnt understand english?? ) and had us go in #1..(we had been on this in line 6 and all went fine) well in lane 1 we had to flip me around.. it didnt work out well and was embarrassing to say the least. i basically was forced into doing somekind of a belly flop into the boat, and my legs got scratched up and had some black stuff(oil looking type thing ,and i dont know where it came from) all on my legs. well then the other guy who seems to know what he was doing, seemed concerned.that helped... just the fact he seemed to care.. asking"oh my goodness you OK???YOU SURE YOUR ok???" i guess i should have stood up for myself more and insisted to get in line 6(there was noone in it ,or any line for that matter at the time)it would have been less embarrassing .

but really the whole disney experience was wonderful and i wish life was like that everywhere!!

ohh one other bad experience was a woman turned in front of us while we were going up the hill to the monorail.. and as she turned she placed her foot under the wheel.we ran over her foot. i KNOW it hurt. i felt terrible. im glad she didnt fly off the handle and start swearing at us.. but i know it hurt her,.and known she was a decent nice person makes it worse. we appologized and im sure she was in a lot of pain after.she said its ok. but i know it isnt.

I am so sorry that this happened to you on Pirates. never be afraid to tell whoever your limitations as you know yourself and they do not. I hope this diod not ruin your trip.

Glad to hear that overall your trip went well.
I'm not sure what happened at Pirates, but I can shed some light on your Peter Pan experience

The person who said that Peter Pan can't be stopped is correct.
The moving walkway on that attraction can be slowed, but not stopped and you have to park the wheelchair away from the ride car (probably not 20 feet, but I know it was at least 5-10 feet).
The last time we were on, DH had to carry DD from her wheelchair to the ride car. He did OK getting on, but getting off, he almost ran out of room on the moving walkway and nearly fell with her.
It is a very difficult ride to get on with a disability.
Peter Pan is listed on the park maps and also on the Disneyworld website as being an attraction that you must be ambulatory to go on.
The reason they have a handicapped entrance for Peter Pan is that the queue is not accessible and wheelchairs need to be parked at the exit. There is sometimes a fairly long wait to ride, so if wheelchairs were not parked at the exit, people would need to stand during the wait (and walk a lot more than 20 feet).

thanks ..this is comforting to know. as for the pirates,i assume it was a new cm ? i didnt want to sit there correcting him, and draw any attention to it.. i guess i should have... either way i had a great trip and want to go again.!! as a matter of fact im already trying to figure ut how i can!

Hello HOTWHEELS!!!

Sorry to learn about the Pirates incident... it's always a bummer when you look back and find you have to hold your ground to get what's best for you (and I sincerely hope "that CM someone" who needed a lesson in how to treat people with all the care and respect possible learned a lesson) ;)

So glad to see you back from a good time as a family, already dreaming about NEXT time. ... Congratulations!! You've caught the most wonderful "bug" there is!!! pixiedust:

You're not alone in dreaming up how soon you all can return!!! Sign us up! :cool1:

I'm glad I could answer some questions about Peter Pan. That was one of our favorites, but we have concluded that it's not safe to do with DD any more :sad1:
It's better to know ahead of time though than to find out by having a problem boarding.

I have no idea what happened on Pirates, but it's possible it was a new CM or one who really did not understand that a particular seat might be better for some guests to board from???

yeah im assuming it had to be...no way anyone would intentionally have someone do it the way we tried.. the thing is i tried to tell him and its kinda obvious #6 is like twice as wide. the chair barely fit into #1, and there was no way whatsoever of angleing it.. in 6 not only did it fit but you could turn it completely and side transfer.. also more room in the baot too..i had fun and its all behind me. but a memory to tell .. for all of us... im pretty sure that CM has been made well aware about the handicap one now.. unless they really didnt realize WHY i was in 1 anyhow. i only wonder what the people who were in 6 were thinking...

Peter pan was trouble for me, I cracked my head on the "ship sail" trying to get in fast because the wouldn't stop it. Ouch!!!!
