Okay I have never wanted to take gold clubs with us on the plane, but I am over-ruled this time ! how does everyone bring their golf clubs on the plane ???
Also..... Can you tell me of a nice place to golf, not too difficult, we're just okay golfers....also a place that might have a discounted afternoon tee time ??? Thanks so much for any help on this one !!!!!!!!! :teeth:

I am responding for my husband who is the golfer in the family. He says to tell you that all the Disney courses are beautiful. You see all levels of golfers on all the courses, he just happens to be partial to Palm and Magnolia. Disney has an afternoon reduced rate on its courses starting at 2 PM .

He has a heavy canvas golf bag cover which he purchased at a golf specialty shop. It holds his golf bag and clubs, his shoes, his golf umbrella with plenty of room for a few items of clothing, if needed. It has padding around the top to protect the club heads and a heavy duty zipper which he padlocks. Be advised that airport security may want to open the golf bag because fertilizer (which may be on the clubs or the golf bag from other courses you have played) triggers the same reaction on the scanners as explosives.

I agree that all the Disney courses are very good and can played by any level of golfer.

I believe you have to check your golf clubs with your other luggage.

You will need some type of travel bag. If you don't want to invest in one must golf shops have them to rent.

If you don't want to bring your clubs, Disney has sets to rent. I know they have Titlest and King Corba, which are very nice. I believe the rental fee is $55 per round. You can also rent shoes.

Yep, golf clubs must be checked luggage! My son also found out the hard way that his prized $400 pressurized bat, and $200 metal cleats had to be checked also. He was a nervous wreck the entire flight.

They tell you to never check valuables, but then insist that certain things be checked :-)

Just be glad that usually, golf clubs aren't charged extra for being over-sized. It costs $80 each way to fly with a bike case. :( I know...that was totally not on topic. But it might make you feel better if you know that you're checking your expensive clubs, and cyclists/triathletes get to pay extra and check thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

Have fun out there...I own clubs, but don't really play. the courses look gorgeous, though!

Wow, fortunately so far, DS can carry on his trumpet. Just wait til he gets his Monet-that's about when they'll decide it has to be checked and we'll never see him again!
Back to golf-DH has a hard case for his golf clubs, and it has wheels and a handle to roll it. The Disney courses have discounted rates to golf after 3:00 (2:00 in November and December). DH also has seen all skill levels on all the courses, but he found Osprey to be hardest and Eagle Pines to be easier. For more rate info, and lots of golf info in general, try www.wdwgolf.com

Well Golf Clubs would NEVER fit as a carry on and I can understand the baseball bat and cleats. Baseball bats can be weapons... weapons are not allowed.

Ya' know, I'm not sure just how much of a weapon a baseball bat or golf club could be in the avg. coach cabin. It's not much of a threat if there is no room to swing the thing!

There are actually several shipping services that specialize in shipping sporting equipment for a flat rate; golf clubs and skis are the most commonly shipped. They insure for a whole lot more than the airlines will.
