Feeling Sad And Need To Vent!!

Just a thought but since you want to stay on disney property and your mother likes the thought of more space. Have you thought of renting DVC points? I am not sure of dates but DVC rents for about $10 p/point. You could look at a 2 bedroom vacation home. this sleeps 8.

Just an alternative. Have a great trip with the mouse! :cool1:

Hey--nothing really constructive to add, just wishing you well. You and DH will have a blast at Disney w/o kids, even for a few hours. I'm sure you'll all have fun, but I TOTALLY get your disappointment-- we plan and plan and start to visualize the vacation, and it's a bummer when it changes and it's not really within our control. Best wishes.

Thanks for the idea of the DVC. That is something I didnt really consider. I did book the other place already but of course that can be changed also up to 7 days prior. My head was swimming with all this happening so quickly and I didnt even think of that. Tonight I am going to check out the forum for that and get a little more info. Can't do it now because kiddies are running amok. LOL. Gotta love em! Thanks again to all!

Let me say that I enjoy staying at Westgate and obviously your Mom did too.
However you do have other options. You mentioned you were renting two cabins. What about one two bedroom villa at the Wilderness Lodge? That holds eight people just as a two bedroom at Westgate would. There is a major cost difference. Points would be way cheaper.

Another option would be a two bedroom at Saratoga Springs or Old Key West. This is at the other extreme...not at all far from Westgate but it would be right next to Downtown Disney.

A third option might be to let the kids camp nearby or to rent an RV. I've lost track of the ages of your kids but that would be one way for everyone to stay at FW...then your mom would stay with you in the cabin and/or RV.

Finally...why not put the particulars of your dilemma out there and see what kind of suggestions you get? The amount of money you would have expended for the cabin, the number of people you need to house, your travel dates. People would love to help you.

If you decide to rent DCV points you might want to consider staying at Old Key West. The villas are larger there than anywhere else, and feel like condos, which your mom might like. Also they have 2 double beds in the second bedroom instead of the bed and pullout sofa that is common elsewhere. You need fewer points to stay there than the other properties, which would save a little money. And you would still have all the advantages of being on property - including use of the Disney buses.

Have a great vacation!
