Feeling nostalgic...

so bear with me. I was friends with "N" all through high school, we "dated" for just a few months our senior year, but we were both moving to different states for college, so decided to just stay friends. Well, it's 18 years later, and we still write weekly to each other. Even though we're married to different people, with kids and jobs, we're still really the best of friends. He's a Green Beret, so he's, of course, "over there". I got an email from him today telling me how he was doing, and I was really holding it together pretty well until he told me that they had watched "Sweet Home Alabama" the other night (on a portable DVD player), and he had thought of me, and of how close we'd always been, even though our lives had taken different paths. It was all I could do not to bawl at work. He closed with, "If I live to talk about it, there's a lot of war stories I'll have to tell...".

I forgot to add that he mentioned that the guys are actually *bored* quite a bit of the time, so if you have any used paperbacks, card games, etc, anything to pass the time, I'm sure they'd appreciate them. You have to know a specific serviceperson to address it to, but I'm sure any of them would be thrilled. Smaller packages will get there more quickly (he said mail turn around is taking 10-14 days).
