Feeling nostalgic

I am getting married 3 weeks from Saturday. As I tie up loose ends, and are getting things ready for our honeymoon, I'm just now feeling really nostalgic. I was watching some home movies last night and I thought to myself, boy in no time DF and I will be our OWN family. He and I will have our own traditions and the way we do things.

I guess maybe I am a bit sad, as one door closes and another opens. Don't get me wrong, I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with the man I utterly adore and love and we have amazing things ahead of us, I'm just feeling a bit sad.

Any of you ever feel that way right before getting married? I haven't said much to anyone about it, except for DF, and he's completely supportive, but I guess I just will move along!

I totally get what you are saying, only from a different perspective. My daughter is getting married in Sept. and I am thrilled for her, but I am also feeling a little sad. I feel like our relationship will never be quite the same.
This may sound funny, but I hope my daughter is feeling somewhat like you are right now. A mother/daughter relationship is a precious thing, and I know we will still be close and we'll just have to find a new "normal" I hope she looks back on her childhood and has many of the same memories I do.

I had these feelings too.. but when I moved out of my parents' house, not so much when I got married. I guess I kind of "let go" at that point.

Congrats on your upcoming wedding! And use the feelings that you're having right now in a great way- remind your family of how much they mean to you.. and talk about your favorite memories!
