Been shopping today, it's half -term here & came back with my first pair of reading glasses.

I'm 42 & have been told that my eyes & eye muscles aren't as young as they were.

I know how you feel, I'm 41 and got my first pair of varifocals last month. My 12 year old DS calls them my granny glasses as my mum also has them.

I also got the "at your age ....." chat from the optician.

I must admit that I have a free reading test voucher but I'm a bit worried about going in case I need glasses too.

maybe next week :(

Thanks Libby, great to know I'm not alone. And yes DH & all 3 kids think it's hilarious!!!!!!

If you've got a free test go Bonzo, it cost me £20!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my first pair 2 months ago and Im 38,Optician says its perfectly normal at my age to need them,But reading/PC is so much easier!

It's called "Short arm syndrome". (Your arms aren't long enough to hold the paper far enough away to read) Hehehhehe

I don't want to wear glasses so I just wear one contact in one eye to correct for reading. I love it. If you only need correction for reading, then you wear it in your non dominate eye.
