We just checked our Italian mail, something we hardly ever do because we get most of our mail through the US base, well I guess I should have checked it sooner....DS had a birthday party invitation for one of the Italian boys in the neighborhood and the party was two days ago and now DS is crushed. I feel bad and because of the language barrier, I don't want these people to think we snubbed the party and their DS. I was thinking of having someone translate our apology and the reason why DS didn't attend and bring over a little gift with it, do you think that would be appropriate? DS has tried so hard to fit into this new culture, and I hate to make a bad impression and just the need to do something.

I think it's a good idea. :)

How about getting someone to translate, then invite the little boy over for a little play date-then give him the little gift?:)

You're NOT a bad mommy, btw.:)

Sounds like a plan to me and no, you're not a crummy mommy.

Italians are laid back, they will understand! We've all forgotten to do things, but I would definitely explain to them why you did not respond. And invite him over and give him a gift. That should smooth everything over.

Sounds like a good idea to me. I'm sure the family will totally understand!
