Hi!

My dh and I just talked about our next years vacation situation, and we are tossing around doing solo vacations with one bigger "local" one for the whole family.

Our "local" one will be Wisconsin Dells, probably at the Great Wolf for a 4-5 day long weekend, he wants to do a solo motorcycle trip for a 4-5 day weekend, and if I had to pick, I would LOOOOOVE to go to WDW solo, again, for a 4-5 day weekend.

I have no issues going places by myself, take weekends away from the fam here and there, have a quiet dinner by myself occasionly, but I think that I would feel horribly guilty knowing I am going to WDW without my kids who are 4 & 5 and would be so excited about going back. Oh, and dh isn't a big fan of Disney. At all. Not even a little.

So how do you handle leaving the family at home? I almost feel like I would sabatoge myself and possibly be miserable once I'm there knowing I left them all at home. But I don't think it would stop me from going, lol. Please share thoughts on this if you can, thanks!!

Go, have fun, and get the kids some extra cool souvenirs to ease your guilt trip :)

You know for me I never do, because my mom and I are the ones who truly adores the parks because its Disney. its a seed thats planted in us, its amazing. However we do go through motions where sometimes we wish we could have brought some of the grand kids, but we do appreciate the time mom and I spend together-its truly special.

I haven't gone solo, but I have gone with the hubby, with out the children. I just got some disney trading pins from ebay and traded them while I was down there for ones they would like.

Go, have fun, but if you spend some time doing something nice for the children, you will feel less guilty. Heck, maybe not even guilty at all. ;)

DH and the 2 DD's are leaving for Myrtle Beach on Thursday. So this is my justification for not feeling horrible. They are Disney'd out anyway. For me, there is no such thing. I have JUST decided between today and yesterday to go solo. I'm actually pretty excited. I don't think my travel buddy will make it, she is very sick with cancer. I'm so worried about her. I don't think she will make it to Disney in Dec. But instead of wasting my plane ticket, I'm going solo!

So if you take another trip with the fam before Disney, don't feel bad! We all need alone time :)

ETA: My oldest DD will be 18 the day after I return, so I'm hoping to find her an awesome gift while I'm there.

I do feel a tiny bit guilty about leaving my daughter at home on my upcoming Disney trip but I know that my sister and I will have a great time! The last time, we brought our two girls and one of them was always grumpy about something. So this time we are going without our kids and we're going to do whatever WE want, when we want and eat what we want! It'll be nice to not have our schedules revolve around kiddos needing a nap or kids that don't like what's on the menu or trying to figure out who will stay with one kid that won't go on a big ride, etc. I feel a little bad but not enough to make us take the kids! :lmao:
