Feeling guilty - Adult only trip

:Pinkbounc I agree christinadie: We love to go to Dis. We are not the Vegas or the lay on the beach type(due in part to my pasty, white skin and red hair). We have fun in Dis and we do take the kids once a year, but going by ourselves every so often in addition to our family trip is special to us as a mom and dad. We don't rub it in and the kids love to stay with their grandparents. When we think vacation---we think Disney!!!! :Pinkbounc

Don't feel guilty, go and recharge your batteries and do all the things you CAN'T do with your son there, like go to PI or take a tour. DH and I are going in August for our 15th anniversary and we are looking forward to it. We are going on two tours, going to see Cirque, plan to go to PI and Jellyrolls, and tour all four parks without ONE time pushing a stroller or stopping to use the restroom 500 times. We have four kids and after 15 years I think we have earned so time for ourselves. :teeth: We have told DS 14 where we are going, but the 10, 6 and 2 year old just know we are going to Florida on vacation. If they ask, I will tell them. I don't think they will be too upset because my parents will be here to stay with them and they ADORE my parents and we are taking them for a 10 day family trip in December.
We decided on Disney for our vacation in kind of a roundabout way. It is our first time leaving the kids, and the baby is only two, so we really did not want to leave the country in case we need to come back quickly. Also, we will only be gone 5 days, so we didn't want to go anywhere that would require a long flight. Finally, we just are not Vegas people (to say the least) and we like the beach for about an hour, then are looking for something to do, so going to Disney and experiencing all the things we can't as responsible parents (hello Margaritas in WS) just made sense for us. :bitelip:

We are doing our first adults only trip in October. The kids do not know where we are going they are 5 and 3. They went last year in November and my 5 year old was there in May. When we leave we are telling her that we are going to Orlando on business and that we will probably go say hi to Mickey and that we are sure we will bring her a surprise. She understands that she is in school this year so we cannot take her. She also knows we are planning a family trip for next year and she is okay with this. The three year old adores disney world but we will explain it to her the same way and we will call and send emails while we are there.

I think this is a great thing to tell them.

Go to WDW and have a great time. There is no need to feel guilty. I think that adult only time is extremely important. Also, you said that your son did not like the rides or fireworks. You should go and enjoy these things! I would be so frustrated by not being able to do rides or watch fireworks. The last trip was for him, and now this trip is for you.

Disney is very much for adults! It's a very romantic place.

My husband and I have been several times in the past without our son. But our trip this October will be with our son - and his wife. It'll be an all-adult trip and we have a blast when we're there with them.

We enjoy going to disney without the kids. One of the main reasons is that we can get there quickly from our home. But really, WDW can be great for adults. We love the deluxe hotels, AKL, SWAN, GF, even the POLY. We can do Pleasure Island, VIctoria and Alberts, the California Grill, etc. We also enjoy walking along the boardwalk and really exploring Epcot.

We tell our kids where we are going, specifically we tell our 6 year old little girl that we will bring her back a surprise from the princesses. They have always accepted these mini trips without a problem.
