Feeling blue

It came out a couple of days ago and since then I've been really blue. We were 3/4 of the way through an international adoption when the country closed its doors to international adoptions "for political reasons."

Reading the article stirred up many emotions; and now I'm just so blue.

I'm so sorry! I have nothing good to say about Lukashenka, he's a terrible dictator and is running that country so poorly. So many lives are at stake and no one in the world seems to notice or even to know anything about it. I read in the paper yesterday that one of his opponents from the last "election" has been sentenced to 5 years in jail for hooliganism. HOOLIGANISM!?! All because he had the nerve to run against the president in the election and give the people a choice. I traveled to Belarus in Dec 2004 and witnessed some terrible and scary situations. It was during the Orange revolution in the Ukraine and there were some demonstrations of support in Minsk. Very scary. We bring our host child over every summer, this is our 3rd year. I only hope that by the time she is an adult Lukashenka has been overthrown or died.

don't give up your dream to adopt. I have friends who adopted a little girl (4) from China this year. She is such a joy. Their process was over a year long. I was adopted as a baby, adoption is a wonderful gift for you, the child and the birth parent. Good Luck!
