About a week and a half ago, I spent two days on and off trying to get through on the phone to the formalwear company Disney sent me the brochure on. (Yes, I called the correct phone number). I finally gave up, and although I had a couple of questions, placed two orders online. Since I felt unsure of this company by this time, I tried to call one last time, and made it through. The woman I spoke with assured me I would get a confirmation by email within 24 hours. That was 8 days ago. This morning I am again trying to get through to the company with no luck. I either get a busy signal, a message with no voicemail, or it just rings and rings with no answer. I check the number repeatedly. I've had it with this company. Does anyone know of an alternative? Thanks for any suggestions. We don't want to drag tuxes around with us since we will be in Universal before the cruise.

When I placed my order for DS's tux about a month ago the website said that you would NOT get an automatic confirmation. Of course there was the standard thank you for your order page. I did request a confirmation in the comments section.

Thanks for the reminder to call and check. I don't know of an alternative.

If you are wanting it delivered straight to the ship, I do not know another alternative. We have always rented from a local shop. Not only do we pay less, but we get the extras too like a vest in lieu of a cumberbund. They will usually throw in a second vest for the second night at no additional charge. That way we have a vest to match each of my dresses. I then put in the same bag as my formal dresses thus no extra baggage.

Cruzin1st,

Just off the phone with rep at cruiseline formal wear. Took about 3 tries to get through (didn't think that was too bad given it is lunch time across the country).

Other than she had to ask the port Disney Magic sails out of  she was pretty good. She confirmed the reservation for DS and gave me a confirmation #. Also reviewed the items and size. Actually she updated the sizing information based on the brand they carry which is a bit different from the brand he tried at the local tux shop. I appreciated that as the last thing I wanted was for it to be too small! This will be the first time since he was 4 that he will wear a tux.

She also said to try it on as soon as possible after boarding in case the "onboard tailor" needed to make any adjustments. (Anyone have any experience with this?)

Also that they do not automatically send out email confirmations.

Good luck!

When I finally got through to them after placing the order online a week and a half ago, the gal I talked to told me I would receive an email confirmation within 24 hours. I did not ask for the confirmation, I just wanted to ask a question about having a mandarin collar for my son, with the stud instead of a bow tie. I got through today after about an hour and a half, but that was continuously redialing. She said they couldn't email a confirmation today because the server was out. I asked if the server was out last week, and she said no, it wasn't. She did not provide me with any info except the confirmation number. I hope this works... I'm pretty nervous. Thanks to everyone for support and suggestions. This was just way too hard. I'm glad that not all reservations for this trip were so difficult.

Iv'e called twice with questions and got through with just a couple rings and talked to a real person. She seemed helpful...able to answers my questions. I am nervous about all fitting. We had to order 3. I actually put an incorrect email address and they figured out from other online order and sent confirmation. We got 2 out of 3 email confirmations.

this is why we rent them from a local place and take with us...I know it is kind of a hassle, and it would be nice not to have to pack that extra stuff, but then again, i like seeing it in advance, and making sure they fit well. Also, when we go in January, that is a slow time for our local vendor, and i am able to get good discounts for renting the tuxes through them. I also believe it was less expensive, but can't remember for sure...

I bought my husband one on EBay for about the same price as renting for one cruise!! The vendor, cheaptux.com was excellent! He even agreed to exchange the jacket for a larger size - no questions asked! I got him a tropical weight wool tux instead of the polyester rentals and was extremely pleased.

I had a great experience with the following:

http://www.cheaptux.com/f-packages.htm

I bought the SP3 Package.

Best fitting garment I've ever had (Did go to local formal wear place to get measured. worth the $10 tip)

Had the item in 2 business days.

Great quality. pleasure to do business with.

Thanks everyone!! We leave Monday morning though since we're not going directly to the cruise. Next time I will try cheaptux per your recommendation, Jim, or ebay. This is too stressful. I did finally get through and they did have my order. If they don't do confirmations, how would someone know if they got the order? Every single time I've ordered something off the internet, they do some kind of confirmation!!! Otherwise, one takes the chance of the company saying, "What order?" I'll do it differently next time. Again, thanks to all you Disers for keeping my head above water, and giving me an alternative to this company that evidently has way too much business. Thanks again, guys. I was panicking this morning when, again, I could not get through.

DH has used the company that Disney recommends twice and has been very pleased.

Since we have two more 7 day cruises booked, we've been talking about buying a tux. I can't wait to show DH the link to cheaptux! Thanks Jim!

Went to ebay looking for DH. While I was on DS started his "no tux but I'll wear a Zoot suit" chant. Long story short three days later and the Zoot suit is at the tailor's being hemmed. My son has suit he'll actually wear and the mom is happy!!

A Zoot suit!!! How charming. I don't suppose you'll be on the 6/7 Magic? I'd love to see that!!

Thanks again everyone. Cruiseline Formalwear finally called AND emailed with confirmations. But next time I'll try some of you other suggestions. Maybe Zoot suits?

BON VOYAGE!! Our first cruise!!

Since we've been tux shopping I've seen tux jackets almost as long as his suit. He also plans to wear it to his confirmation next week. I'll have to post pictures after the 7-5 criuse.
