Feburary at WDW

Just looking for some insight on WDW in Feb. How are the crowd levels? How is the temp? (can you swin in Feb?) Are there lots of closed attrations?

Hoping those of you that have gone this time of year can shed some light.

weve been twice. its not the warmest, but not the coldest either. pack layers! take stretchy gloves and a heavier coat with just incase. for the kis i packed polar fleece hoodies and hats, mitts, and fleece blankets for the end of the nite.
crowd wise is quite good unless you are planning to be there around presidents day.

we went feb 11thish this year and didnt notice significant crowds until the friday after which was the start of the presidents weekend/week for some school breaks. it was chilly and but also warm enough for a sunburn somedays. we didnt swim, just ran out of time, but on my 05 trip in feb we did.

not a lot was closed either time, just the usual rehabs if any. even then its usualy pretty limited to one or two things at most. usuallyone of the water parks is closed during that time- they alternate for rehabs during the cool months. i'd do feb again in a heart beat.

We went twice in February amberg @ eastlink.ca covers it very well ... except, we swam. My kids could swim with Polar bears though!

Water parks were closed but nothing else was (except routine maintenance)

We have gone to WDW in February every year for the past 5. We usually go the last half of Feb. In 2012 we will be there Feb. 15-26. Usually it is warm during the day and cool at night. You will see people with hats, coats, scarves and mitts during the day but these people are obviously not Canadian. It can be cold if you are waiting for a parade or fireworks. Dressing in layers is the key. I check the weather every morning by calling the WDW weather line. In the gift shop at Pop Century they always have the weather printed and posted at the cash with a suggestion on what to wear or take to the parks. There have always been people in the pool when we have been there, even on the chillier days.

I haven't done Disney in Feb but have been to Florida. We went at the end of February & it can be cold. We swam once (wasn't exactly the warmest to swim but we wanted to go to the pool) & then it was cold, & some days were rainy. I wouldn't go back in February again. We had planned sightseeing other things & we went to Kennedy Space Centre & ended up being stuck inside because the weather turned so bad.

It was quite cool for us. We wore polar fleece and stretch gloves most of the time. There were a couple days where we got to wear t-shirt and shorts but had to quickly change as the sun went down. Even during the middle of the afternoon I was sprinting from the pool to the hot tub...brr. If you dont mind the cooler weather early Feb is a good time to go crowd wise

We have gone to Florida in mid Feb. for the past several years. We have had very cold weather and quite warm weather. Feb. 2010 was extremely cold. This past Feb. was very nice---perfect park weather.

Jan. 2 to Feb. 15 next year is considered "Value Season" so if your arriving after that, the season changes to "Peak" and the prices will be significantly higher due to Presidents Week and Spring Break. They will drop down again to "Regular" season Feb. 26th.

Also, there are a few attractions that are listed on Disney's official website that will be closed for refurbishment, mostly notably:

Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will be closed for an extensive refurbishment, January 9 through April 30, 2012.

Dumbo the Flying Elephant will be closed January 9 to February 17, 2012.

Liberty Square Riverboat - Closed For Refurbishment November 09 - February 03

There is also rumor that Test Track will be down, but that has not yet been confirmed.

everyone says "Cold" but what is cold to 1 isn't to another, so those with experience in Feb, what would you say temperature wise, for daytime, was cold and for evening? ie those that used polar fleece in the daytime, or those with hats and mitts at night.

(my so wore shorts this year up to Oct 26th. LOL. so he is obviously more immune than others. plus when we go, we will have temps here hovering around -20 plus wind chill, so 10 degrees at night and 20 by day would be totally doable for us.

They are predicting this winter will be similiar to last (warmer) with La Nina but I would still pack for all kinds of weather. We wore layers and did appreciate our gloves once the sun went down at night, it got downright chilly.

That sounds like a North Norwegian summer. Good to know what to pack and what to leave at home

Thank you that thread was helpful! I am planning on packing tshirts, zip up sweather, capris for me and the kids (they have the pants that roll up to capris then roll back down to pants !) We will be fine with that. :O)

We spend the entire month of Feb in the Cocoa Beach area and have for several years. Over the years we have seen days where it has hit 90F and we have had days where we've needed to turn the heat on. Typically, the highs for the entire month are in the high 60s and low 70s (F); the Orlando temps are always similar to the beach area. The locals freak out when the temp is in the low 60s and especially in the 50s---you'll see folks bundled up like it was freezing! Well, for them, I guess it IS

This year, we were in Orlando a lot during the month and it was always warm. And then there was the day we went into Orlando for the day in late Feb and we were sweltering, the temp was 88F. (AND the a/c in our car was broken......NOT fun!)

I always bring both long-sleeved and short-sleeved tops for the month, and I wear the short-sleeved the most often. And always capris.

We look out at the ocean and we always see folks swimming in the ocean, mostly kids of course, and the beaches are always packed on the weekends.

You can go to AccuWeather and look at extended forecasts and also click on "Month" to look at the predicted highs for Feb 2012.

We usually go in March and August. But for the first time last year, our break was in February and it was great. Although there were a few times it was cool. The kids did go to the resort pool a few times.

The crowds weren't too bad until the second week.
