February trip thread!

Hi All!
We are going to DL the 7th-9th (actually stopping at DL before heading up the coast to San Francisco). We are DL newbies & have always dreamed of going to see "where it all started" (as my kids say). I was able to use points for our airline tickets & are using DVC points as well. This trip is a real challenge for me because I know WDW like the back of my hand but DL is a mystery. Luckily for me, I can always count on my fellow Disers to help make this trip magical.

Oh njziggy, you're going to love it!! As a good friend (and WDW nut) of mine says, DL compared to WDW is downright quaint.

BTW, I love SF!! How fun!

I'm joining this thread....

We are going February 16 - 20 and staying at the Anaheim Plaza.

This is our "cheap trip"...cheap plane tickets ($50 each way Seattle to SNA), cheap motel ($240 total for 4 nights).

We are volunteering this weekend to get our "free day" and will use that toward our renewal of our AP's.

We haven't been in almost a year.

Looking forward to some Disney magic! :goodvibes
I love a cheap trip. We were up in the air about staying at the Plaza again, but DH wanted the Candy Cane. We'll be there the same time as you.:goodvibes

will you get a chance to visit the Disney museum in SF? DH and I just went and loved it. There's a thread on the CA forum.

YEAH we finally have hours and entertainment posted for our trip at the end of Feb. It is so exciting to have the times and entertainment to really plan now.

DWheat - what did you think of the Anaheim Plaza? This is our first stay there. In the past we have stayed at HoJo's, Fairfield, and Carousel and liked all three places. I am a little anxious because it is sooo cheap.

Thanks in advance.

I think it's a great deal for the price. It is easy walking distance (directly across from TOT), there's a fridge and microwave in the room (at least in ours), housekeeping was fine, the pool and hot tub are good, everyone was helpful. It's also right next to the Anaheim Garden Walk, so if you're tired of Disney food, there are some other places to choose from. We rarely use our car once we settle in at the Plaza. If you are trying to save money, there's a Food 4 Less market a couple of miles west on Katella. With the fridge and microwave, we were able to feed our picky DD and vegan DS and not worry about what they would eat in the park (mind you, they are adults, but a mom worries, you know?).
The down side - there was some cracked paint in the bathroom, no elevators to the second floor, and it's kind of spread out, so if you need to go to the office or when you go to the pool, it's a walk.
I don't know if you've looked at Tripadvisor yet, but there are lots of pictures posted by guests, most of them pleased. I love to see guests' pictures, not just the brochure ones on the hotel's website.

B-Day trip for me! this is the family one....

Feb 8-10, at Hojos. Likely will do dinner at Ariel's Grotto on either the 8th or 9th. Need to figure out what time the Pixar parade is, as I really want to see it.

I have a friend of a friend who will book Club 33 for me for a "grown ups only" trip in the next couple of months....so I really get to celebrate twice!

I love me a cheap trip. :) That's what we're doing. Our trip is Feb 25-28. It'll just be my 2 girls and myself. We're also staying at Anaheim Plaza. Stayed there several times before and always found it to be fine for what it is (basic hotel to sleep in that is in walking distance :) ). Never had a negative experience there. Of course, it's not my first choice, but it's a great choice for a quicky type vacation or just someone who would rather go basic and spend their money on other aspects of their trip. :goodvibes I'm sure you'll find it just fine for your trip.

Sounds like we'll be there during the ladies only Dis meet. Too bad I'll have my kids with. I think I might get some LGMH's anyway just in case I bump into anyone. :)

Kinda bummed to hear about the possible closure of Indy. Matterhorn left me looking like a Smurf :lmao:, so I can't say I'm all that sad it'll be in refurb when we're there. Now I don't have to come up with excuses on why I can't ride it with my girls.

We are going in Feb also - cheap trip here also. We have annual passes we bought last June because we knew we would be going again in Oct and it cost less than 2 4 day hoppers. So, tickets paid for. (and we are maximising the cost of those passes!) We are staying at the Grand CA villas using our DVC points, so room paid for. We got air fare from Missoula, MT for a total of $330 for both of us RT. :woohoo: We will be celebrating DH's birthday on Feb 5. We will be there Feb 3 to F3b 10. :dance3::cool1: We are very excited!

wohoo!

Thanks DWheat for the review of the Anaheim Plaza.

That is pretty consistent with other reviews I have read. Not the fanciest place, but adequate for what we will use it for. We don't spend much time in our room. When we go to Disneyland we are in the Parks pretty much the entire time it is open! lol.

One thing I didn't mention before, is that we have Club 33 reservations our first day in the park. It is our one "SPLURGE"! We have been to Club 33 one time before, but it was 14 years ago. We are very excited to go back again.

you know i am pretty confident indy will not be closing afterall atleast not in feb. i think they would post it by now and also an indy CM still said they havent heard of it closing. i think it was just a rumor that started at micechat by some people saying they HOPE AND WISH it would be refurbed early 2010. hopefully this is the case

Again, I'll be there all day on the 17th and about half of the 18th. When I was last there I was chatting with some girls from Japan and they gave me some Disney Tokyo pins. I'm not a collector so if anyone wants them and will be there on Feb 17 or 18, please let me know.

Rob

We will be there the same time! Schedule is showing Pixar Parade at 5:15 all three days :goodvibes

We are officially boooked! We'll be there Feb. 10-14, and possibly the 15th if I can talk DH into it. Then we are headed down to Legoland for 2 days before we leave to come home. I wasn't going to believe it until we got airfare, but DH bought it over the weekend, so we are committed!

I think it would be great if people who are going early in Feb. can write a little bit about their trip on here so we can hear on the trips go.
Since we are all together on this site it would be nice to know how the parks are and how your trips turn out.

Hi..... I just registered, but I've been lurking here for awhile.. :)

My oldest dd and I are planning a trip to So. CA for 2/20-2/28 for her 16th birthday. We will be at DL from 2/24-2/28 and are staying at The Carousel.

I've not read all through this veeeerrrrryyyyyy long thread, but I was bummed to hear that The Blue Bayou will be closed the dates we'll be there. They open again on 2/28.

This is our first trip to DL, having gone to WDW last Jan. :)

Sorry about the BB being closed, but Cafe Orleans has good food and a fun atmosphere. It's just not the same as eating inside POTC.
