I have two questions that maybe some of you can answer. We have only been to Disney once and it was 2003. We went the week after Thanksgiving and the weather/crowds could not have been better. We have the same time booked this year but due to unforseen circumstances we MAY :confused3 have to push the trip back to February. Has anyone toured the parks during early February and also does anyone know the exact opening date for Expedition Everest. Thanks for all the help. New to all of this. :grouphug: How does everyone get that little time line at the bottom of their posts? :flower:

Hi and welcome to the DIS!

Disney has not yet announced an official opening date for EE. Unofficially the opening will be April 22, but that is just a rumor. There will likely be "soft" openings--trial openings, if you will--in February and March.

February crowds are very light as long as you avaoid President's Day week (Feb 18-25) and a few days around Mardi Gras (Feb 28).

As for the weather, there are no guarantees in Orlando in February! you could have days near 80 with cool nights or you could have mornings near freezing with daytime highs in the 40s. you'll need to pack a little of everything!

I have never been during that time so i cant help you on the crowds.
Everest still hasnt been released with an official opening date. People have speculated though that March seems like a good timeline.

Timelines in the sig....

Follow the directions there and copy the text for VBulletin. Come back to the DIS and just paste it into your signature!

I have been twice in Feb. Great time to go if you want low crowds (No idea what Presidents day/week is but didn't notice an increase at anytime). Weather was good too. Very dry. A few cool mornings/evenings, but wouldn't go as far to call it cold!

I'm returning in early March, but may be hit by Spring Break, which is something I wanted to avoid completely.

The scuttlebutt I've heard about the grand opening of Expedition Everest is that Disney wants to tie it in with Earth Day, which is April 22 if memory serves. Soft openings should be starting in February (I heard a Cast Member say this in AK in early October).

I've never been in February, so can't comment on that.

What are "soft openings"? Are they public previews? I'm there in March and would like to ride this if I can.

I am going to be there the second week of Feb. and I am hoping Expedition Everest will be open. It would make me feel better since Test Track will be closed. ;)

"Soft openings" take place when Disney allows their guests to ride an attraction that is not yet officially opened to the public. This happened to us with Mission: Space. I read here on the DIS that Mission: Space was being opened during the nights on Monday-Friday. During the day it was closed up but every evening the week we were there they pulled a barrier out of the way and let us in. We managed to ride MS every night during that week although the official opening was still a month or two away. I understand that Disney asks guests for their opinions after riding but in our five rides no one ever asked us anything.
Keep reading these boards for soft opening info on Expedition Everest.

Does anyone have any opinions about this resort? Can you still fax room requests and do they really work? We want to be at the open end of the "V", near the boat dock that goes to MK. We booked a garden view room!

There is a contest to win a trip to WDW and be at EE for the press event. It says you must take the trip during the event April 6-8th, so I am guessing they are fairly confident. Personally, since my birthday falls in the middle of the event, I think I should automatically win :rotfl2:
