If you had to pick between early February and late August for a Disney trip, which would you choose and why? Is there a major difference of crowd levels? I know it will be quite warm in August, but if there are less people, that might be a better choice.

We have gone to WDW in both February and August, and I can tell you that we love February and would never go in August again. We usually go during President's week, which is pretty crowded, but I understand that the crowds are low in early February, and the weather is so much more pleasant than in late summer. The weather can be quite variable in terms of temperature in February - for example, we have had days in the 80s and days in the low 60s. But if you plan to layer your clothing you will be fine. Also, February is one of the months of lowest rainfall in Florida, while it tends to rain often in the summer (when we were there in August it rained every afternoon). If you love very hot weather, and some people do, I'm sure you will be fine in August, but personally I can't stand the hot and humid summer and much prefer a cool weather trip. I'm sure that you will have a wonderful time whatever you decide.

February by all means! Nicer weather and usually less crowds. Oh, and February is not hurricane season, another plus!

we went August of 2000 and Feb of 2004 and my kids made me promise that we will never go to Fla during the summer again! We are headed back in this Feb again!!

We have done both and much preferred the first week of Feb. If it weren't for the possibility of Free Dining, I would not go in Aug./Sept.

FEb. was cooler weather, and low crowds.

Another vote for Feb. Actually we have found that the crowds are lighter in early feb and the weather is much nicer. No contest!

August has much bigger crowds, not including president week. The very end of August (last week) is not as bad crowd wise , but still really really hot.

I dont mind late August, but if it weren't for the kids in school, it would be February for sure ;)

Definitely February for us. We are from western Canada and the humidity would kill me in August!

The week we are looking at going is President's week. We would actually go down on Wednesday, and fly home on President's day. Does that make a difference?

February without a doubt!

This said by someone going next August only because of 3 middle/high school boys' schedules. And dreading the weather and crowds.

I'm sure you'll get some August votes if you can go the very end of the month and they have free dining again, but if you're looking at the first half of the month or so, I'd definitely go with Feb. Worst time in Feb would be President's weekend and week (Friday before President's Day through the next week) so avoid that if you have the flexibility, but still I don't think the crowds would be worse than early August and you wouldn't be fighting the heat as well!

We went this Feb, the week before President's day all the rides were walk ons with no lines at all. It did get busier from the Thursday before President's day, but still fine, and the closing times go right out to 1am so you can do the quieter evenings.

The weather went from a headline grabing 34 (very funny to a Brit that this was the lead news item), though to the mid 80's on President's day itself. most days it was a UK summer normal temp of high 60's / low 70's.

We had such a good time we're booked again from Feb 1st though to Feb 22nd 2007. :Pinkbounc

I voted for early Feb. No matter how cold it might get in WDW then, its still going to be warmer than MA. :goodvibes

Even the week of President's Day is not as busy as August. If you have a choice, take February. We end up there in August every year, and it is like.... well, let's just say it's not quite as magical. Go in Feb.

OMG - we would NEVER go in the heat of the summer again. We went too early in October once and it was still too hot! And I've lived in the South all my life!!!
