Has anyone heard anything yet regarding Cozumel?? I thought I read here that one of you had spoken with DCL regarding this. Any official word?? When doyou think we will know for sure?? I know sometimes they substitute Caosta Maya and sometimes Nassau. I'm curious where we'll go....

Rick, In reading thru the forum, you are a world of info [do you work for disney]

I am collecting all this info, and have a few I'd like to ask...

I am not to big for excurions, curious if there is a beach, or town within walking distance of Port on each stop ?

SPA: We are going to need a couples massage, we did one in SanJuan that was heaven. had another on Princess cruz & thought i got beaten up. I see disney has a few different ones, any suggestions for a muscle/stress relieving massages?

I saw the "DIS meet on Sunday morning at 11:00 (before Key West) around the Goofy Galley (formally Scoops)." I'll try to be there

Photo Lisa, I like your iron on, is ok to use that for a T ?

Thanks for the complement :goodvibes . . . . I guess my obsession with all-things cruise related comes in handy sometimes :rotfl: . . . I don't work for Disney (although sometimes I wish . . . .), I work for a major automotive manufacturer (located in Dearborn, MI) :teeth: .

Beaches near the ports, let's see . . . .

Key West is not much of a beach stop. Most of the shore is rocky, although there is a beach area at Fort Zachary Tayler park if I'm not mistaken.

Grand Cayman has 7-Mile Beach just to the north of town (and the tender docks). Very easy to take a cab from the docks to the beach. Actually, you'll be taken to a beach area by one of the resort hotels. I don't know that much about the prices for chairs, etc as we've done the Stingray City trip on our last visit (and planning to do the same on this one). Check out boards.cruisecritic.com for additional information about the ports.

Cozumel has some wonderful beach areas on the leeward side (port side) of the island. We are planning to grab a cab down to Paradise Beach ($12 each way). There is no charge to use chairs and umbrellas (they do ask that you buy some food and/or drinks), and $8 to use the water toys.

If we end up going to Costa Maya, I've read that the little village just south of the port (Majahaul?) has some very nice beach area. Cabs are $3 per person.

I can't help you too much with the spa questions as we haven't tried any on DCL yet. From what I've read, the new spa suites on the Magic are very nice (although a bit pricy if you ask me). Also, you can't go wrong with a cabana massage on CC.

I hope this helps, anyone with addtional info please chime in . . . .

I guess this was an OK 500th post on the DIS. Hopefully we'll get our docs today and I'll join the dancing . . .

Rick[/QUOTE]

(Seeing that I just read through all of the posts on this thread in the last week...) Wow Rick it seems like just yesterday that you were posting #400! Thanks for staying so active!

Thanks Rick, not w/ Disney, I'll have to write them & compliment on the PR you do for their lines... :thumbsup2 The info is very helpful

We got our papers Sat from TA :bounce:

Hoping we do Cozumel, I am from MA & a co worker in NH will be in Cozumel, an other on a different cruise. we are all meeting in Cozumel for drinks.

In our crew, we have 4 rooms... me (47) DW (43) & DS(9), next door my sister (54), across is other sister (51) & DH(51), next sisters daughter (28) & DH, & 3 DD (2), (4), (6).... That's 11 of us

I hope we get to connect, I chatted a cruz board b4 my princess one a few years ago & never met anyone i chatted with (it was at cruisecritic)

I am sure it will be GREAT no matter what

I wasn't planning on bringing anything but shorts, but my sisters say i need to eat in the dining room 1 night... I am on vacation & a disney boat besides, I don't want to have to grow up.. I have to do that 5 days a week now for work

I saw one island had ATV rides (one of my hobbies) but $100 for 4 hrs, has anyone done this ? is it just a putt putt & follow the guide, or can you break away & go ??
I saw the stingray thing, but that kinda worries me, the tails arew the stinger... what if they have a bad day & start stinging, LOL not sure how my 9yr old would react... I'd like to try snorkeling with him, but may wait til CC to try it out

Ok, i'll stop blabbing now

WOW, not only does he know his Cruises, but a singer too
Now i can't get Sandman song out of my head... :rotfl:

So hows the winter been out in Michigan ? The northeast has been rather mild, more Rain & warm climate than snow.. The skiers & snowmobilers are real angry this year. Not to mention any that bought truck & plow... :guilty:
But winter isn't over yet... and in 18 days we'll all have out suits on & swimming... Oh I can't wait... get butterflies just thinking of it..

It has been a very mild winter here in Detroit. We started off with a lot of snow around Thanksgiving time, but by the end of December it was all gone. My kids are missing sledding down the snow pile at the end of the street. I even had my sunroof open a couple of weeks ago.

I guess I actually miss winter. I mean we live in Michigan, so I'm used to having snow. At least the sun was out today, but it was quite windy (wind chils in the teens). My fear is that the seasons have shifted and we'll come back from the cruise to about 2 feet of snow . . .

Rick

p.s., sorry about sticking that tune in your head . . .

no probs on the tune, it was a good song :) better than some others
Hope it brings you luck in getting your Docs tomorrow :wizard:

coming home to 2 feet of snow ? after this vacation it won't matter :teeth:

Finally doing the Doc dance!

TA called on Friday and then sent them in the mail, we got them today :cheer2:

Now it seems its coming up so fast. I need to look at my cruise packing list again to see what I'm missing.

Have a Good Tuesday everyone!

Kim, I think we are on the 10:00 A.M. Captin Marvin tour also. We have never been to Grand Cayman so I guess we will just follow the crowd. I think it is within walking distance (correct me if I'm wrong). :)

I would like to get our passports stamped in each port. Does anyone know of an easy way to do this?

I saw a currency converter chart months ago but can't remember where that was, does anyone have an idea where this can be found. Is it necessary to know the conversion from USD? :confused3 Don't want to sweat the small stuff.

travel booklet says
Sailing Itinerary - Wed. COZUMEL ~ is this just Generic ??

message - personal coolers may not be brought on board, except those needed for medication
is that true ?

Hi all.

We are still waiting for our docs too!!! The TA supposively sent them out on Friday so they should be here today, I hope! (For gosh sakes, they are only one hour away, I could have walked them home by now) :moped:

We are not planning to do any excursions on the trip, mainly looking to beach it. I will read over what Rick has written about the beaches (Thank you Rick). I really hope that we go to Cozumel as that Paradise Beach sounds just perfect!
The four of us are parasailing on CC. (Did I mention I am not a big fan of heights.....)

It seems that winter is trying to flex it's muscles finally. It has been a slow season (I work in a ski shop!) but we are cautiously optomistic. It can snow any day but the day we leave!

Have a great day.

The pier office for Captain Marvins is just 2 blocks up the street from the tender piers according to their website.

I believe you can go to the port offices to have your passports stamped (never tried this). I belive the office in Grand Cayman is right by the teneder piers. Not sure about Cozumel . . .

I wouldn't worry about currency conversion. Everywhere we're going will gladly accept US dollars. Just make sure the price quoted is in US dollars and not a local currency. Also, using small bills ensures you will get change (some of which may be in local currency). When we went to Cayman and Coz two years ago, we used US$ and credit cards exclusively.

Yes, the Cozumel stop on Wednesday is more or less generic. DCL has said they are still planning on going to Coz but will make a call within the next week or so. If there is a change, we all should be getting a call from them.

You can bring soft-sided coolers on board (no ice until you get on board). We have a nice soft-sided one on wheels that we're going to roll on board with our day bags to carry some wine and bottled water. They do not want you bringing on hard case coolers. Also, I would not check them with the porters as the bags are tossed around . . . .

Rick

It's so cool to see 185 people related to this board on this cruise.
105 adults / 80 kids
with 37 of them right from New England ( i in Ma )

Hope those Oceaneers are Big, just with us, we got
Club (3-7) = 30
Lab (8-12) = 25
Quest (13-17) = 15
some under 3...

it's so nice the Kim [kshabare] gathered all that info.

What a great Bunch & looking forward to meeting you... :cheer2:

Rick, you've taken the cooler on board before with no problem, right?

We definitely want to take some beer and I prefer caffeine-free Pepsi, so some of that too. We were considering waiting til we get to Key West to buy it so we weren't dealing with all of our carry on stuff and drinks until we can get in our cabin, but if we can wheel a soft sided cooler on then that would solve the dilemma for sure.

Thanks for the info!

Melanie
