I did not see one started so I thought I would start one.

:welcome: to the February No Buy thread. If you are an old pro or a newbie, everyone is welcome to join.

There are no rules, except for the ones you make for yourself. This thread is a great place to get support, share stories, and keep on track with your monthly budgets.

I hope everyone has a fabulous month, remember only 29 days.

My month started yesterday. I went out and did a ton of shopping. We needed a lot of stuff that we had run out of. I used a bunch of coupons combined with sales and between all of the stores I went to I saved $138.05.

1/31- $42.82 Giant Eagle, $2.29 Save a lot, $5.93 Goodwill, $9.13 CVS, $9.66 Target, $42.63 Aldi, and $1.94 Walgreens

No Buy Days: 0/15

Store/Coupon savings: $138.05

I'm a newbie. We're actually going to WDW this month, so I guess I can't say I'm not buying anything lol

But we always cut back in the time just before we go -- there is plenty of time for treating ourselves while we're travelling so we don't miss it now.

It says no rules -- but I'm not sure what to do here

Welcome. When it says no rules, I mean there are no set rules to be involved. You make up your own.

So you can decide if you want to just record everything here, or non bill spending (which is what most of us do). You can decide how many no buy days you want to try and accomplish for the month. Some people post a budget, while others just track spending.

I love it because we are all so supportive of one another.

I got all my spending out today!:cool1: :lmao:

My goal is for 12 spend free days. I also have a goal for make $100 by selling things.

2-1-2012 - $42.01 gas, 11.48 Harris teeter, 6.43 aldi, .81 cvs, 1.61 Walmart
(sold tricycle for $20 + set of books for $20)

I decided to do an "eat out of the pantry and freezer" month. I'm only buying dairy, fruit and veggies this month. So far I've spend $1.89 on shredded lettuce for tonight's dinner. Can't wait to see how much we spend for the entire month! I inventoried my freezer and pantry and made a menu planned based on what I have. Should be an interesting challenge!

Charming23, thanks for getting us started!

This is going to be a trickier month for me due to our trip, so I'm going to downgrade number of my no buy days and up the number of non consumables I can buy. However, for each one I buy I have to get rid of two items from my house! Dinners out obviously won't count the days that we're gone!

2/1: toilet parts (technically, a non consumable, but because they're so important, I'm not counting them!!!) and $4 paper cups for a super cute groundhog project for my kindergartners.

no buy days: 0/8
dinners out: 0/4
non consumables purchased: 0/5
items decluttered: 0/10

I am back! We bought a condo in August and have been buying lots of things to make it ready and liveable. Finally don't need anything...I think.

I'm in for February! Last month I did really well and exceeded my goal. It was difficult, but I did it! I really stopped myself from buying 'stuff' so much. The stops at Target and the store on the way home got whittled down to almost none! Just going on the weekends. This thread was/is really motivational for me!

My goal No Buy days will be 12 this time. I'm really torn about the gas thing, but I'll figure it out.

02/01 = $16.05 gas
02/02 = $00.00 1/12

I have to stop at the store on the way in to work tomorrow because we're having a Super Bowl Party at work and I'm responsible for soda. I will also probably stop and fill my gas tank. AND if I'm not too tired after work I'm going to stop at Target on the way home to stock up on things like papertowels, etc. So that's the plan at this point. Good luck everyone!

I'd like to jump in this month!
12 days no spend
Raise $100 to cover training and gym membership
3 meals out
Drastically reduce non grocery spending!

2/1- No spend!
2/2- -$84.91 grocery run but +$62 from selling baby carrier and plant stand

Running Tally
1/12 No buy days
0/3 Dinners out
$62/100 Sold items

I've never done one of these before but it sounds like fun... It is real easy for me to keep track, since I just about NEVER use cash. This may be a good wake up call for me because I am far too quick to pull out the plastic. Okay, I've figured out that I'm not likely to see a ZERO day this month. I think I have to pre-plan for that kind of month.

02/01
Quik Trip - Filled up the Prius for $33.67
Atlanta Bread Company - Lunch $12.70
Mrs Winners - Dinner $4.42

02/02
Subway - Dinner - $11.65
Walgreens - Batteries - $4.42
Target - Groceries - $15.14

02/03
Waffle House - Breakfast - $12.00
Taco Bell - Dinner - $10.70

02/04 - NO SPENDING
02/05 - NO SPENDING

Running Totals:
Groceries - $15.14

Other - $19.56

Question, If you update your daily records do you just edit your original post or quote and edit that? :)

Yesterday I ran some more errands. I had some expiring register rewards from Walgreens and Extra Care Bucks from CVS to use.

Today I have a job interview in an hour and not sure if I will stop somewhere on the way home.

1/31- $42.82 Giant Eagle, $2.29 Save a lot, $5.93 Goodwill, $9.13 CVS, $9.66 Target, $42.63 Aldi, and $1.94 Walgreens
2/1- $0
2/2- $18.48 CVS, $13.97 Walgreens, and $1.60 McDonalds

No Buy Days: 1/15

Store/Coupon savings: $190.63

2/1 $0
2/2 $101.00 publix and got $10 gift card for free
2/3 $0.00

So:

2/12 no buy days

101.00/650.00 groceries and household items
Eating out $200.00

I'm in

We are planning a trip to Disney in October and I just raised our expenses by $1,000. The cost of airfare and upgrade in resort.

I have two expenses to get out of the way,

Kohls cash that I earned last week - I bought back to school clothes on clearance for the boys, spent only $100.00 and bought an entire wardrobe for DS1 and a few replacements for DS2. Anyway I have to spend it or loose it.

Also need to buy a new stroller for DS3, I have gift cards for toys-r-us and the 25% off trade in should cover the price.

I will only go grocery shopping on Tuesdays and I will bring cash and coupons, that way I can't go over budget.:)

No going out to eat this month, including Vday.

2/1 -$0.
2/2 - Formula and a bag of frozen vetables $20.00
2/3 -

My job interview went well and I came straight home instead of stopping anywhere.

1/31- $42.82 Giant Eagle, $2.29 Save a lot, $5.93 Goodwill, $9.13 CVS, $9.66 Target, $42.63 Aldi, and $1.94 Walgreens
2/1- $0
2/2- $18.48 CVS, $13.97 Walgreens, and $1.60 McDonalds
2/3- $0

No Buy Days: 2/15

Store/Coupon savings: $190.63
