I will be there Feb 5-7, staying at the Hojo with two of my friends. Reason...because we can? Because I will have an Annual Pass again after 6 months without one? Also my birthday is on the 9th so technically that could be a reason, right? Any way I look at it I am STOKED.

in feb.. wish i was going again the temp were like 80 degrees, would have love to have stayed closer but my parents let us use there timeshare in san calemente.. going back in a year and half.... we want to move to southern calif. in 2012..

Coming from Australia Feb 2nd to 16th not sure when we will lock in Anaheim leg was looking at 2nd to 7th but looks like no fireworks scheduled that weekend so may try 9th to 15th.
Got hotels narrowed to HO JO or Park Vue Inn,BW Inn/suites and Mariott Anaheim 2 adults 2 teens 18 and 15 girl and boy whats the best fit from those that have been ive been 3 times once with my brother took each kid once seperatly this is first time all together

Welcome everyone!

Well, I'm getting so excited to tell my kids on Christmas! They have been begging to go for years... we're finally doing it!

I've got the treasure hunt all ready to go. I made up a poem which is now broken down in multiple "clues". Each clue has a small object (toy airplane, calendar with day marked, etc) with it. The first clue will be wrapped in a HUGE deceptive box. The final "treasure" is a picture we had made at Walmart that has the girls faces next to Mickey and Minnie's as they sit at a diner. Its pretty cute! I'm planning to film it all of course. Can't forget that Christmas!

Did anyone else ever do something like this? Any other ideas to make it just that much more exciting? Still crossing my fingers that the DVD Vacation Planner shows up before Christmas but its getting pretty close... it would have been fun to watch that all together! We'll have to youtube it I guess.

Great idea with the treasure hunt! We are telling our kids as well at Christmas about our upcoming trip In Feb. I think this time we're going to have a little note in the Christmas cracker that they will open at the dinner time telling them of our big trip. Hopefully this time the kids won't be sick like last year at disneyland as they both got awful colds just before we left!

Another BC'er checking in, and living not far from u am an Richmondite plotting and scheming against the kids for our surprise (or at least it will be if DH doesn't keep mentioning the dates in front of the kids GRR!...Have threatened him with coal if he doesn't knock it off!). Have got a Pirate theme running and the kids won't know till the date of departure. Will be at the mouse from Feb 1 to 8.

That is so fun!! I honestly don't think I could pull that off. Way too much to have to hide (suitcases, etc). You are good!

I've got my own office, so once Christmas is over I've got lots of room to hide the incriminating evidence (in fact I've got 2 trunks full of it). Last time we headed down to DL I let my older DS know way ahead of time, and he worried the entire time that something would go wrong on the trip, so that's why I'm keeping it a secret. That and I like to plot and scheme against the kids, it's my way of getting back at them for when they misbehave. I'm disgustingly over planned for the trip, and don't have to do anything until the last 2 weeks of the trip, other than letting the school know this week the dates the kids will be away from school. This is the last time we will be able to take them out of school for 2 weeks, as once they get past grade 3 it's really hard to pull them out for that long, and not have problems in getting caught up with the school work.

Too funny! It sounds like my wife and I trying to keep our upcoming trip secret until Christmas too. There's been too many times that it's almost slipped out so I can't wait to tell the kids we're going!! Sounds like your family will have a great time driving down. Its so hard isn't it?! My mom actually almost ruined it last night. They recently came home from Disney World and we were talking about stroller rentals (they were with my young nephews) and she blurted out "are you guys bringing yours when you go?" Both my dd's were there, listening of course. I gave her "the look". Her face turned to horror and she covered it almost nicely by quickly adding "you know, when you go to Vancouver next week?" Lol... my oldest right away started asking about our now apparent trip to Vancouver... gotta find a way out of that one now!
