February 2010

We have friends that were there all last week. It was predicted to rain all week and they got nothing. I'm going to be positive and plan to have fun regardless. Some of our best times were when it rained b/c everyone clears the parks. I would rather have pretty weather though. Also they were in shorts and capris with light jackets in the mornings.

We leave on Friday for Disney and check in on Sunday and i see all the rain that is forcasted too. If anyone has a double stroller what do you cover it with? I can't find a stroller cover. We will have both a double stroller and a single umbrella stroller.

I really don't care that its going to be raining its still going to be 70 and when we leave the high for the day is -2 and the low -21 here. Anything will be better than the weather here. I"m just stumped about the double stroller and keeping it dry.

I read here on the Dis that some people use the rain ponchos. I bought some today and bought an extra one to cover the double stroller with. Who knows if it will work but I thought I would give it a shot. We will be checking in on Saturday. I can't wait!!!! It is forcasted to snow here on Saturday night and I will be OH SO HAPPY to be at the Poly and on vacation with no snow!!!

It seems like people are starting to obsess on how crowded or not crowded it's going to be in the upcoming weeks. I think maybe we all need to just take a few deep breathes and realize:

1: It's February, not December, June or July...so chances are even if it's "crowded" it's not going to be THAT crowded.

2:The cheer competition is going on, yes, but don't they mostly focus on practicing and doing their competition? So they probably won't be in the parks as much as you would think.

3: Most importantly...you're in Disney with you family and that should be the most important thing of all.

I'm in the teens! 16 days to go!
I just got my LGMH's together yesterday, keep an eye out from 2/11-2/20! :)

Wow, I can't believe our time is almost here February-ers!

5 more days for us! I still have so much packing to do!
It rained a couple times when we were there Feb 2008 & I did use a rain poncho to cover the stroller. It's a single one though. The nice thing to remember is that the rain usually doesn't last very long. Just head into a show or indoor ride & it could be done by the time you get back out.

Starting this thread...

We have 9 more months to go!!! Our baby will just turn one this trip & I am excited for his 1st trip! I am curious to see what discount offer there will be for this month. We are staying at CR (DH's choice) & will be eating at Chef Mickey's for the 1st time.

Hey Nemofans - do you know about getting your baby's first haircut at MK - can't remember where I read about it but I think you get a button and maybe a pic - sorry if this is a repeat - I didn't read through the whole thread.

Have fun!

3 days to go for me .. it says 4 but is nearly 11 p.m here so i'm going with 3 :rotfl:
I see the water is back in the moat yayayya

So how worried should I be about the crowds the week of the 13th???

We have gone the past 2 President's Day weeks as it is our school vacation. THere are crowds, I think the worst day was President's Day since a lot of people had it off. Sure we waited in line, but we were on vacation and it was sunny.

ONe year we went and walked on to many of the popular rides, no wait at all.

Hi everyone! this is my first post in here. We're (me, hubby, and 3 kids) are going the 1st thru the 8th. We're staying at POR. this is our first family trip!! Hubby and I went in 1997 (stayed offsite) for our honeymoon. I live in Iowa, where we just had our 3rd major blizzard and it's now only 10 degrees out! So, I'm really hoping the weather isn't a total bust while we're in FL. Maybe they'll take the chance of rain out!! Crossing fingers!!

We have gone the same week every year for the last 10 years. There was only one time it was absolutely unbearable. We had to buy hats and gloves because we were sooo cold. Almost didn't make it through the parade. But other than that, if you dress in layers it is fine. Be realistic. I know people dont feel like they are on vacation unless they are in shorts, tangtops and flipflops.......but take it from a family that has tried for years to wear shorts and "convince ourselves" we are warm. It doesn't work. You wont feel much like you are on vacation if you are cold while waiting in line. If it does get hot, its only for a few hours in the middle of the day. I wear capris and sweatshirts for layering. I can not usually wear shorts but the kids can as long as they have socks, sneakers and sweatshirts for morning and night.

But from someone who went 2 times before in August, I would take 60 over 90 in Disney anyday!! The only time I want it 90 is if I'm at the beach.

We also love the park on rainy days and save the sunny days for pool time!! Just bring your poncho's and forget about it. It has never ruined our time, unless they close a ride. But that is rare.

As far as the crowds go, if you utilize fast pass, you will be fine. We base our day and path on that and I dont think we have ever missed anything yet.

Thanks! My DH and I are both teachers and we don't have a lot of flexibility as far as when we can go.

I was actually planning on doing this, but DH wouldn't let me wait that long for his 1st haircut. We ended up having it done right b4 Christmas. He was mistaken for a girl too many times that we just had to cut it.

2007, right? I remember that year, it never reached above 70 while we were there:scared1:

Weird thing was, we always go to the daytona 500 while in Florida and in 2007 it was the coldest 500 on record, 2008 was the hottest, go figure!!:rotfl: That just shows how unpredictable the weather is!

Congrats on the family trip.

The weather will be better than IA..that's for sure.

I added you to the list.

Just switched to a studio at VWL Feb 2-6, so excited that I will be there next week.:cool1:

Yes, they did break a record. There were people walking on the beach in winter coats and hats and they said they couldn't remember it every being that cold:eek:. We learned since then.....just come prepared for anything and it wont bother you. Now we always have the hats and gloves in the suitcase. Hopefully they wont come out again. :beach:
