Are there any shops near the port to buy beach toys? I have been looking around, people lok at me like I am strange!!!

Well I would say if you have never been you might make a short trip to Ron Jon's surf shop. It is an adventure. its open 24 hours well at least it was in Jan 2006. Cool place to shop. Very touristy.

Our dilemma...

On disembarkation day, we have DCL transfers to MCO. The latest we'll get to the airport is about 10:00am since you have to be off the boat by 9:00am. Our flight back home is not until 9:40pm! The earliest we can check our bags is 5:40pm. We have almost 10 hours to kill in Orlando airport. There's no earlier flight that we can make with this carrier.

What should we do?

gmark.. i think i read somewhere that you can get a day room rate at the hotel there at orlando airport...is it a hyatt? i only know details when they pertain to me.. lol but, i am pretty sure i did read that somewhere. it may be worth the extra expense to keep y'all from being exhausted and restricted as to what you can do to entertain yourselves while at the airport.

Would it be possible (or even worth it?) to change your DCL transfer to one way (MCO to Port only), then rent a car for the return trip?? Then you could stop at Downtown Disney or see the shuttle?? We originally were going to do that for the 10th, but our flight got moved from 5pm to 12:30pm......
May not be possible.......just a thought!

renting a car is also an excellent suggestion. gah, not enough coffee here yet.

I hear you! The only reason I was able to think is that I couldn't sleep and am on my 3rd cup of coffee! Today is the day they are going to announce the rest of the 2008 sailings including the Repos. We are seriously considering the LA to FL repo (well, make that I am considering...DH would like to get through our first DCL cruise before I start obsessing on the next one!!:rotfl: :rotfl: )

Jackie- I am laughing out loud!!! I am planning our next cruise also and my swet huby is like lets just get on the boat for our FIRST before you worry about the second one!!!
I need to see the dates for the repo. If my oldest won't miss alot of school then yes. Otherwise I am thinking Christmas Cruise!!
Back to packing for this one!!!

Too funny! I can't wait to meet!

We are debating the Repo or Thanksgiving 2008! The Eastbound Repo dates were announced in an email this morning, 15 nights (oh yeah) Leaving LA on August 17th 2008. Here is the initial announcement. Prices are expected out later this afternoon (that will be our deciding factor).

Price is where its at for us also!! I wonder if we book before we cruise can we rebook onboard and get the discount? And can we wait to put deposit down on board?

Seeing who can get to the mailbox first to see if we got our cruise stuff has become a game in my house!!!! I WANT THEM TOO!!!!! I am going shopping with my mother in law on Sun. ( who will also be on the cruise) for a dress for formal night, then after that I was thinking lunch just to go over all of the resevations so far. Since we are traveling with others and I am the only one who doesn't work, I have been making all the plans and then filling everybody in. I thinking I might start packing today b/c my daughter in home sick today!!! She has a nasty cough and is sluggish. Better now that at the cruise! Like somebody said, I have been pushing O.J. at every meal and making them wash their hands all the time!! I even bought that Airbourne stuff yesterday at the store. Well, she can't be to sick b/c she is screaming at her brother right now, I have to go see whats going on.....

dj- my son is home sick today with cough, fever. I guess better know than in 2 weeks!!!Ikept me dd home I am taking them both in. She has nosymptons but this way if she starts to show signs I can meds right away!My son hasn't been sick in a coupleof years! I guess I can stay home from the gym and do laundry!! Then start packing!

Is there anyone else with little kids 2 and 4 that are concerned with how they will behave for dinner??

We are going to skip formal night and only take them to the semiformal and regular dinners depending on how they behave. I'm concerned with them being able to sit for so long.

Dumn question here....I am assuming REPO means repeat cruise, right? Is that the cruise they try to get you to book while on board? Do you get a discount or something? Everyone keeps talking about this REPO cruise.....

My kids are 20 months and 4 and my little one is terrible in restaurants (so we stopped eating out)! She wants to run free and doesn't sit still and it often ends up her pitching a fit. Hopefully the servers are ready because she is going to be a challenge to keep entertained! :) I did read a good post about bringing small containers of play hoh for the kids to keep them entertaining, so I picked up a bunch of tiny containers at target for cheap....its worth a try!

We are also skipping formal night and are on the fence about semi-formal night~

I'm also concerned my 20 month old will start screaming when she is not able to go in the pool with her sister (since she is not potty trained). It should be very interesting!

Its suprising to me that disney doesn't allow swim diapers in the pool. I think that is MUCh more sanitary than somebody who is borderline potty trained but goes in the pool anyway with nothing. Kids have accidents and I would much rather know I had the option to put a swim diaper on than not let them in the pool.

As for dinner with kids, do you guys have any polly pockets? They are small, rubber, barbie like dolls that you can change their clothes and stuff. My daughter loves those and they are small so we can put them into a zip lock baggie for dinner. They can be a choking hazzard for small children though, so be carefully with them. The play dough was a great idea also, I never thought of that!

my daughter was 5 the first time we cruised (last year with dcl). i completely understand, about worrying about your children not acting right during a long dinner...but, i wanted to remind you.. that this is disney and really there is no such thing as "bad" behavior.. especially with such great concerned and well planning parents as yourself.

i can't help you on the pool policy cause my dd was potty trained. we only went to dinner 2 of the nights on our 4 night cruise.. as we enjoyed room service. we are underachieving vacationers and just enjoyed being.

whatever, makes you and your family the most happiest is what is important. no right or wrong..

last year on one night we did eat at the table, the other family at our table, their 7 year old didn't want to stay throughout the meal.. so the mother took him (where he wanted to go) to the childrens club and rejoined the dinner party minutes later, no right or wrong.. no eyes blinked...

I agree about the swim diapers, but I'm not about to go against the rules. I amy just have to avoid the pools, or take my 4 year old and have my husband take the little one somewhere else.

We will probably try and see if she will stay in the ear or on the side lines, but if that doesn't work, there are plenty of other things to do. And there is always the beach on the days at port!

Tracy,

I never thought of playdoh...Mary Teresa just turned 4 and we have a bunch left over from her favor bags. I'll bring it along. Are your in-laws getting excited yet??

Polly pockets is a great idea too....what I usually do when we go out is bring along the color wonder markers and papers and that keeps them busy for a little bit too....maybe I'll make up little goody bags that we can take for dinner and switch the stuff around to keep them interested...I think my DH will be a little upset if Joey is playing with his sisters Polly Pockets! I'll have to pack some little cars for him!

What is everyone doing for Pirate Night?? I can't find Pirate clothes anywhere and I was wondering if the Pirates would be to scary for the kids.

Tracy,

I thought I read that there are splash pools for the little ones are those the ears??

And, if they go to the bathroom before the go in or at least within that half hour before, they should be ok for a little bit don't you think? I know my DH 2 1/2 only poops once a day and if I put him up to the potty he'll go pretty much on demand, but it's getting him to do it on his own that's been a challenge!

when I asked my father in law if he was getting excited about the cruise he said "its still 2 weeks away". I told my husband I give up. We are just going to do our thing and have fun and hopefully they will have fun too!

I am so excited just still worried about the kids or me getting the stomach bug!

Sydney (4) asks every day if we are going on the big boat today. We are going to make one of those paper chains today to count down the days. Like the kind I made in kindergarten with the strips of construction paper and you pull off a link each day. That way she can see when we get close!

Still haven't gotten our documents, although my mail is messed up....maybe today!
