Febreeze Laundry Odor Eliminator

You've never heard of having some clothes retain the perspiration odor? Or towels to get kind of old/musty smelling? I guess you're very lucky! The towel thing is very minor, I'm more bothered by the perspiration odor that stays in some fabrics.

Sorry, but I've never heard of this either. :confused3 I very much hope my clothes aren't retaining a perspiration odor and I'm just not smelling it?! If I forget a load of towels in the washer for a few days, yes they will get a musty odor that won't wash out. When this happens, I fill the washer with half musty towels mixed in with half clean towels, and the musty smell always washes out. Kind of a PIA to have to do this to get rid of the smell, so it keeps me from letting it happen often.

No, I really haven't. Are people using home-made detergent? I work with someone who tried that and said her husband told her it wasn't getting them clean. I did laundry just last night and everthing smelled nice. I use fabric softener though.

And yes, we do sweat. :dance3:

I just add a scoop of baking soda to the wash

OK, I give up. We're just a bunch of stinky people I guess:sad1:

As I've said, it's not all our clothes by any means and for the most part our clothes do smell very nice, even the ones with the odor that I'm talking about, unless you put your nose in the armpit of the shirt.

I use a variety of detergents, never homemade. I also use fabric softener, sometimes liquid, sometimes sheets. Right now I'm using some kind of liquid tide with a purple cap and bounce dryer sheets.

I guess only 1 person besides me has used this febreeze laundry product I was asking about. Bummer, I was looking for some feedback from others who have used it and what kind of results they have gotten. It gets such great reviews on amazon and elsewhere on the internet.

For the towels - hot water, All or Purex and add bleach. I also don't reuse our towels. They are the thin kind from costco and get washed after each use. I found Tide made the clothes and towels have a smell, not BO - just an odor and the washer was not getting as clean either. I know Tide usually gets great reviews but was not working from my washer/water type I guess.

As for the shirts, try a few of the spray-n-wash products or the oxiclean gel stick for stains. I think hot/warm water washes get things much cleaner and I would switch from Tide, jmo.

Oh, I do use bounce and have not found the dryer sheet to effect the clothes cleanliness.

Good luck.

Thanks for your thoughts but I'm not sure these methods could work for me.

Our towels are thick and they are dark colors. We do not wash after each use but rather every few days. They are always hung to dry in between though. I do use warm water on them but no bleach due to the dark colors.

I'm not having a stain problem.

Most of my daughter's clothes must be washed in cold as they are those thin t shirts from the trendy stores and hot water would ruin them.

Bounce has no effect on cleanliness, it's purpose is fragrance and fabric softener.

I use Cheer with Colorguard. I use Clorox brand beach only. Right now, I use Arm & Hammer fabric sheets. Other times, I use Downey, Bounce, or whatever is on sale.

I do not buy cheap detergent as the last time I did, it was Purex. It left yellow stains in my clothing. I didn't see them as I put the clothes in the dryer, and they became heat set. I spent more money replacing the clothes than if I had stayed with quality laundry products.

My towels are all colored to match my bathroom.

My clothes & towels still smell. There IS a phenomenon where perspiration on some people comes off their bodies and then gets absorbed into fabrics. When one works out or does strenuous labor, more perspiration happens. Also, the body abrades against the fabrics and pushes the perspiration into the clothes. Those odor molecules get embedded into fabrics. Some fabrics more than others.

I only wear cottons, wools, and natural fabrics. I shun polyester & synthetics whenever possible.

Are YOU buying cheap polyester for clothing or a towels blends? Not only does polyester look cheap, but as a synthetic, it does not absorb liquids well. So yes, probably you would not be getting the problem some other people have.

Also, I noticed an extra funky odor the last several months. I was afraid it might have been my anemia supplements. :( I wasn't going to stop taking those supplements. Then, someone said it could be my hypothyroidism, (previously undiagnosed and getting handled,) is causing my body metabolism to be off in the odor department. She had that same problem. As soon as I started on hypothyroidism meds, that funky smell went away, thank goodness. But, I still have the regular stinky perspiration problem I always had.

Yes, it must be nice to not have this problem that it is completely unfathomable to some people. For those of us who DO have this problem, Febreze for Laundry was invented. Some chemist actually took the time & sat in a lab to figure out a real problem that exists for some people.

This problem doesn't seem to apply to you, so maybe you should move onto another thread? There was a brand new planet discovered several days ago, that might actually be able to sustain some type of life, as here on earth. Just because people hadn't known of it before, didn't mean it doesn't exist. Interesting how that law of physics works.

Thanks for you support, I was beginning to feel a little crazy or something.
