Feb Trip Questions

Hello! I haven't been on here in awhile, so forgive me if these questions have already been covered recently.

I am planning a somewhat impromtu Feb 4-5 or 6 trip to DLR. It will jut be me and DS12 this time, so a pretty easy trip.

1. How has the construction in DL affected traffic patterns (nearby lines, overuse of monorail, etc)?

2. How has season of the force affected TL strategy?

3. Is Lunar New Year goint to affect DCA crowds much?

4. I don't want to camp out for PTN parade. Is there any way to catch a decent view on that Thursday, or would the late showings on the weekends be better?

1. There is currently no construction in the area of the monorail.

2. It's crowded all the time. If you want Space FP get them first thing. Get Star Tours early too.

3. Somewhat. The immediate area gets crowded. Also, anywhere that sells special food will have longer lines.

4. Try a one of the meals that comes with a reserved spot.

Thanks, SMD. Sorry for the confusion on #1. I was mainly worried about the area around ROA, but I was also curious if the monorail was extra busy because the train is down. It's just a pet peeve of mine if I have to wait too long at the monorail when I want to jump over and get a sandwich at EoS.

The monorail is always busy lately. I don't consider it a reliable for of transportation, if that's what you're considering. I've had to wait for a second train several times in the past year and a half or so. It hasn't gotten better during the 60th. But it goes in and out of the park, so I don't think people are substituting. It's hard to say what's actually happening at ROA since I suspect the construction will go up in phases and construction walls will be coming when they start draining it.

With only 2 of you, and depending on the height of your DS, you shouldn't have a hard time getting a good viewing spot for PTN, especially if you don't have to be sitting curbside or on a bench. We have always been able to grab a good spot no later than 10-15 minutes before the parade by looking for openings in the second row. If you decide to watch the late parade on the weekend, you should be able to get a good spot in the second row with even less wait time. One time, we walked right up to our spot (great viewing!) minutes before the parade started.

2. How has season of the force affected TL strategy?

I don't think Season of the Force has necessarily affected most folk's plans for Tomorrowland, other than needing to get there earlier. Space/HyperSpace Mountain is very popular and those FPs tend to run out early in the day. At this point, HyperSpace is pretty much DL's version of RSR in terms of FPs and standby lines (still no single rider line for HyperSpace). Star Tours is the next most popular attraction, but if I had to prioritize, I would get the Hyperspace FP and standby for Star Tours. Launch Bay is popular, but for the most part, there isn't a super long line to get in anymore (the characters still have long(ish) lines).

3. Is Lunar New Year goint to affect DCA crowds much?

No, I don't think Lunar New Year is really all that big of an event in DCA. It might impacts crowds slightly in the area where they event is held, but that's about it. When I've been there, I didn't think DCA felt any more crowded than normal.

2. How has season of the force affected TL strategy? I was there this weekend and I found that all of TL was crowded all the time! No matter the time of day!

3. Is Lunar New Year goint to affect DCA crowds much?

4. I don't want to camp out for PTN parade. Is there any way to catch a decent view on that Thursday, or would the late showings on the weekends be better? The parade is great! You should be able to find a spot no problem on Thursday. On Saturday, we watched it over on the tiered area by IASW and it didn't seem as crowded there as it did on Main St when we watched it on Friday. Also, another vote for doing a dining package. We did the Blue Bayou package on Friday and watched in the preferred viewing area on Main St. The Aladdin's Oasis viewing area is by IASW. Wherever you watch it, stay in that same area to see the fireworks!
