Feb. trip booked...anyone stayed at Peacock Suites?

So, we just booked our trip for the last week of February. I planned to stay on property but have lots of Shell vacations points to use by next summer, so we've booked 3 2-bedroom suites at the Peacock suites for us and our family. I've read mixed reviews on their website and most are not from Shell vacation owners. Has anyone stayed here? As a avacation owner? What about the property and 2-bedroom suites?

Yup, we own with Shell and use our points regularly at the Peacock. What exactly do you want to know? The property itself is nice if a bit "dated", ie, they should update the paint and carpets but otherwise it's fine. It's not really walkable unless you have kids that don't care about walking longer distances, we always drive tot he parks and park. Altho it is pretty close to the Toy Story lot so in theory you could just walk there and grab a free shuttle bus. The pool is nice, but it gets very loud when there are a lot of people in it, it is covered but there is an area you can sit in to sun yourself if you like. I burn easily so I love the covered pool area. The lobby has movies you can check out and the concierge will probably try to get you to attend an update. We got $100 Disney dollars for doing that, used it towards an upgrade from park hopper to AP. They only have valet parking, so make sure you budget $8 a day for that, but it's really nice because the lot is tiny and the guys who park your car are so nice!! It's walking distance to the Garden Walk as well, the night we check in we usually walk there for dinner. The biggest difference with these rooms is that there is NO kitchen, you will get a microwave and mini fridge, dishes as well but you can't actually cook in the room. This is different from all the other Shell properties we've stayed in (Vegas and Napa) but I like it just fine. They have a free breakfast as well....anything else? I'm sure I've missed something or another....

Kerri- Thanks so much for posting! I was looking for an overview and what you gave me was awesome. I was disappointed about having no kitchen but last time we did DL we stayed at Hojos and we were fine with our cooler, fridge and micro so I think that's ok. I was hoping we could do an update meeting for more disney $$ so thanks for that tidbit too. They mentioned a shuttle from the hotel, so that's what we were planning on. We have 2 smaller kids, they'll be 2 and almost 6 when we go so definitely not walking bound. SO looking forward to it now...wasn't so sure at first.

What is this "update meeting" of which various Dis-ers speak? Does one have to be a member of a timeshare, or just stay at the hotel? I'm curious because I'm looking into staying there for my December trip, and extra $$$ would sweeten the deal!

You might want to ask about the room options. We have stayed there once and we had joining rooms. A 1 BR suite and a 2 bedroom with an adjoining door. The 1 BR had a bedroom and then another room with a small table, TV, fridge, couch, etc. The 2 BR had 2 rooms with a bed in each. Depending on what you want, you might want to have the room with the couch and not be restricted to ALL beds.

Just a thought.

No problem, glad I could help. the shuttle is ART, which is something you have to pay for daily. When we used ART the Peacock was the last stop on the route, that meant that when we got on there never any seats left, and no one ever offered their seats to our kids either. They weren't as small as yours are but it was still frustrating. We always have a cooler because we drive to Anaheim, we just put our food in the fridge, it's always been big enough for us.

yes, you have to be an owner to qualify for the update. Or if you aren't a member you can do a sales meeting and they will try to sale you a timeshare. We've had a few different free gifts, ranging from Disney Dollars to gift cards for dining out or even for gas. I don't know if they ask all non-owners to attend a timeshare presentation or not.......

They have 3 room types, we've stayed in all 3. by far we much prefer the "3 bedroom" option, which is a living room and 2 bedrooms, it's the biggest but also the hardest to get into. We normally get a "2 bedroom" which is 1 "bedroom" with 2 queen beds and the living room area with a fold out couch. There is also a "1 bedroom" which is 1 queen bed in the bedroom area and the fold out couch in the living room area.

If you plan on doing ART, check out getawaytoday. They have really good prices on multiday passes. I looked and both girls and I could get 5-day passes for $12. We decided to walk though (not from Peacock, from the Super 8), I'm too impatient to wait for a shuttle...

We stayed there in a regular hotel room- loved it- it was clean, updated and quiet. Pool was nice. We enjoyed grabbing some breakfast and coffee to go in the morning. We walked and didn't think it was very long? overall, a great value!

We stayed a few years ago on points, we had what they called 1 bedroom (sleeps 4). It turned out to be a normal hotel room with a wall put down the centre. When you walked in the door to the room you faced a (I think) queen bed, the bathroom was on your left. then you walked through the door way in the room to the sofa bed. As there were 3 of us the sofa bed was always in use so there was very little room to move about. When I have suggested staying there again to my DH he wont even consider it. I'm sure it would be better in a bigger room, just check how many actual beds in the room.

We have stayed there a few times using our points from RCI. It's an ok place to stay; we usually get a 1 bdrm for just the 3 of us. There's no bells and whistles that's for sure, but hey, we're at DL We use ART and don't have any problems with getting a seat but we like to stay there in Oct/Nov.

With respect to the ART shuttle from the Peacock suites to Disneyland, how long is the trip? Just wondering how early we need to leave. Also, do you know what the cost for the shuttle is per person? Are kids discounted? We are travelling there in October.

DBF and I have walked it, we wouldn't do it with kids, with or without strollers, but that's just us maybe. At night we grabbed a taxi to get back to the hotel because our feet were tired and we just didn't want to walk it. But as I said previously you can now grab a shuttle to the Toy Story lot and walk from there, it's just like walking tot he GW from the hotel, which is very easy.

Yes, this is a 1 bedroom, our last stay was in a 1 bedroom and we were fine. The girls had no problems or complaints about sleeping on the sofa bed. The 2 bedroom is the same exact layout, only there are 2 queen beds and the one sofa bed, there are not 2 bedrooms, the 2 queen beds are in the same room and the living area is the other room. The 3 bedroom is the only one that actually has 2 bedrooms......there is a "master" bedroom with a queen size bed and it's own bathroom, then there is another bedroom that has 2 queen beds and there is the sofa bed in the living area and another bathroom. We've been upgraded to that room a few times for a night or two, it's by far our favorite.

No, see my explanation above, it's 2 "rooms" and there are 2 beds but no, there are not 2 bedrooms.

I want to say it's every 20 or 30 minutes, you can get tickets at the hotel. I don't know the cost because we have a Premium AP which includes free parking. Kids are discounted. The Peacock is the last stop, so on the way to the parks it's not long at all but on the way back at night it can feel very long.....

I like the taxi cab ride back idea...i always wondered, what are the carseat requirements in a cab?
I'm disappointed to know it's not actually 2 bedrooms. I was hoping to be able to put the girls to bed in a separate room. Hmm we'll make it work it seemed totally worth the Shell points for this time of year!

I called Peacock suits and I have spoken with several people and they said they are two seperate rooms. When you open the door there is a living area and one bedroom on the left and one on the right. I am confused.
