Our extended family is considering a President's Day week cruise to the Bahamas in Feb 2017. I am concerned with the weather and it possibly being too cool to enjoy the pool and Castaway Cay activities. Should I be concerned? Clearly people cruise at this time but would hate to be on a Disney cruise and not enjoy the outdoor activities.

we went feb 1 2008. it was warm (80's) walking around. But the water (ocean) was very cool. We still swam, but it was just a tad on the cool side.

When we cruise it's the following week, last week of February. We haven't been uncomfortable. But I will mention we are from the snowy north east, so it feels like summer to us.

Enjoy your cruise!

I share your concern. Currently, it is 75 at Castaway Cay, and Saturday the forecasted high is 70. Brrr!!! However, it is currently 81 in Nassau.

I'm currently book on the 3-day that weekend. I don't expect the weather to be as nice as spring/summer, but, compared to home, I bet it will be a huge step up.

I figure any time of year has it's pitfalls: hurricane season, hot & humid summers, rain almost any time. We found plenty of indoor stuff to do in addition to outdoor activities.

Might be cold, might be hot.

Cousins cruised in February and there was a big very cold snap that hit FL (where we were at the time) and the Bahamas. They were in coats on ccay. (on land we were in coats and still shivering!) We all went together the following year and it was gorgeous. Not as hot as October, but in oct I got a nasty sunburn and the water felt colder relative to the sun than it had in feb.

My answer is it can go either way. We have done the Presidents Week cruise on the Wonder the last 2 years. 2014 we had great weather and a beautiful day of sitting outside at CC. 2015 we couldn't dock at CC and went to Nassau instead. It was so cold they were giving out blankets by the pool. We tried sitting outside on deck to have a drink while docked but it was just too cold for me in jeans and a sweatshirt.

We were on the Dream last year during President's Week. The weather on CC was warm and we swam and snorkeled. It did end up raining which made a lot of people go back to the ship early. We waited it out and ended up feeling like we had the whole beach practically to ourselves. It is definitely hit or miss though because as the PP just said, the Wonder couldn't dock during that same week.

It was cool on the ship while we were underway and we didn't swim on the ship because it was so windy, especially on our last day at sea.

We leave this weekend. Will let you know when we return. By the way I'm also a big UVA fan .

I'm leaving on the Dream tomorrow, yay!! I am hoping it won't be too cold on CC! I am from north Florida so not that good with really cold ocean water! lol

I would not let the "cold" weather keep you from cruising in February, but it will be cool. We have cruised in January and the water temps are frigid, but it didn't keep our kids from enjoying the ocean, just too cold for the hubs and I to get in. It was rather nice sitting on the beaches, can be a bit chilly if the temps drop to low 70s but it's still very nice!! I will say that our day at Castaway Cay was a bit cool, we had jackets on while walking around, once again it didn't stop our kids from enjoying the water but it was cool. On the ship, the pools are heated but be prepared to feel a chill when you get out!! :-)

Nassau was a beautiful day for us but the water was so cold!! The sun was shining, it was warm and we thought the water looked fantastic.....and we were right, it looked awesome but it was ice cold!!

I personally think if you go, you won't regret it, it's the Caribbean and you are on a Disney cruise, enjoy it! :-)

Thanks! Please report back and Go Hoos!!
We just came back on Wednesday and the weather at CC was perfect. The water was initially a little chilly but became comfortable very soon. All the kids and adults enjoyed the water. My daughter, her two friends, and the 3 dads all went snorkeling. My son and his friends all played with tubes in the water. The water was very comfortable. We also ran the 5k and it became hot pretty fast while we ran which made us enjoy the water even more after the run. The weather at GC was also very nice. I would have to say that the first day on the cruise leaving from Miami was a little chilly but the rest of the week was beautiful and sunny. The waves were a little rocky and choppy on the first day of embarkation. Some of my friends and I became pretty seasick; we had to take meclizine and zofran. Some of us actually left dinner early to rest in our cabins because we could feel the boat rocking- (however, as a disclaimer, I have pretty bad motion sickness). The pool on the Magic was also heated and I even went on the Aquadunk.
