Feb 6 2010 7 Night Western

Anyone cruised in February before? I keep reading snippets on other threads about the weather being iffy... my hubby has a friend at work who took a 7-day DCL cruise in February and had a fantastic time, great weather, went swimming, etc... but is that really the norm? I am trying to prepare myself (and the kids) for the fact that it won't be quite as warm as when we sailed in early October.

I guess the upside is that maybe we'll get to enjoy some of the things that we didn't want to do last time because it was TOO hot, right?

Oh, and the for the record, we are still booked. We haven't made our airline reservations yet because we want to add a day or two in FL onto the end of our trip and we haven't finalized that, so we are slow to finish making plans. But hey, we just booked this trip a couple of weeks ago! Until we got the KSF pin code we had NO plans to take another DCL cruise. We probably won't even tell the kids until Christmas.

So right now it's:

Me (37, but 38 on the trip)
DH (37, but 38 on the trip)
DD (11, just shy of 12 on the trip)
DS (8, but turns 9 during the trip -- his birthday is Feb 12th!)
DD (4, but 5 on the trip)

Can you tell we all have winter birthdays? heehee

This will be our second family cruise, took a 3-day in Oct 08 as part of our own land/sea package. Spent 5 days at Shades of Green in WDW and had a fantastic time, then did the cruise. When asked which part they liked better, all 3 of the kids said the cruise! So there you have it. :thumbsup2

This will be my fourth cruise, and my DH's third... we have never done a Carribean cruise before so this is exciting. I have been to the Caribbean for a vacation once (Peter Island, near Tortola), but that's the extent of my experience. I am looking forward to seeing other islands. And Key West, too -- FUN!

Yep! :thumbsup2 We actually did this exact cruise at end of Jan/beginning of Feb in 2008!

We had great weather last time. It was crazy windy in Key West, but hot. I think it might have started to rain in the late afternoon on CC day, but that was it.

The pool water, since it's heated, was of course awesome! :worship: CC was VERY CHILLY  in the morning, but I eventually got used to it around lunch time. I hate cold water, but I wasn't foregoing enjoying CC!

I needed a light jacket/sweatshirt in FL & in the morning at Key West. Otherwise it in the high 70s/80s the rest of the trip.

BFF is coming tomorrow for us to finalize our excursion/dining plans, as well as dining the night prior with FL family for our night-prior at AKL-Villa. :dance3:

We leave 13 weeks from tomorrow!!!

Hey,

Just noticed on the DCL page that they seem to have changed the itinerary for our cruise slightly.

Their web page shows Tues-Cozumel -- Wed-Grand Cayman

I think this is a change and out of the ordinary?

Start our bookings tomorrow! :cool1::cool1:

We got a notification of the change several months ago -
it had to do with port traffic.

We got our first choice reservations too! Didn't have too many to do though.

Palo = Monday at 8pm
Cozumel = 5 hour tour of Ruins (BFF only; I'm staying on the ship)

We'll probably do the hop on/off in Key West, but that's not a Disney excursion.

Gayle

I just realized I remember you from Rob & Scott's wedding thread. I so loved reading their story. Lisa

Got my first choice for Palo brunch and dinner. I am definitely up past my bedtime. :goodvibes:

Woops! I forgot all about this!

Guess it would help if I paid the balance due on the cruise first, though... :p

Honestly... don't shoot me here... hubby and I were not super-thrilled with Palo to the point where we would be disappointed if we didn't go there at all. We'd be just as happy to spend that money on something else.

We were able to get everything we wanted at the times we wanted, too:

Monday - Palo brunch at 11 a.m.
Wednesday - Stingray City Snorkel
Friday - Tristan only - Bottom Fishing Castaway Cay (I will be relaxing at the 18 and older beach by myself until he comes to join me ; )
Friday - Dinner at Palo's at 7:30 p.m.

Does anyone know if they do a "Superbowl Party" on the ship? It is Superbowl and since I am a HUGE football fan, I would like to watch it. I think it starts around my dinner time, though, so not sure what to do???? It will be the first night at one of the restaurants and I love the first night at each one. I will have to make a decision, lol!! Bummer!!

Talk with your servers the night before. You might go to dinner for a bit and just have the entree, have snacks while watching the Super Bowl. Have a great time all of you. I really, really wish we were sailing with you!

Hi - can you add DW and DD -9 to my line

Hi IslandJen:

Just noticed you are from St Joe's, we're in North Bay and I travel to SSM with work a few times a year.

Welcome aboard.

John

Can you add Ken to my listing? We are from Nashville and love roller coasters. This will be our tenth cruise and second on Disney. Thanks, Lisa.
