:rolleyes1 Does anyone know of any conventions, large groups etc that would be there at that time? I thought this would be a good time to go without crowds.

The National High School Dance and Cheering Competitions usually go on around this time...Usually the Dance is around the first week of Feb. and the Cheerleading is around the 2nd week. I am not sure of the exact dates for 2008 though.

Also, Mardi Gras is around the first week of Feb. in 2008 I understand that draws big crowds. I am not sure how it will impact the parks.

We were there this year from the 10th to the 18th. We found the crowds very reasonable. We walked on to IASM, Peter Pan, Mickey's Philharmagic and many other rides. We waited 5-10 minutes from some others, like Pirates. The only days that were busy were the two Saturdays. We did see large groups of dance/cheerleaders and a couple of times I took dd into a bathroom to find it overrun with crazed moms applying makeup to their girls, but for the most part it was fine. We are in the beginning stages of planning another trip and are thinking of going around the same time. If you take advantage of EMH during the week, you'll be amazed what you can squeeze in in a short period! Have fun!!

Hi-- this is my first post on this board :) We are going the first week of Feb. and according to the unofficial guide to Disneyland there is nothing going on until the 10-13th at the convention center and that is the Craft and Hobby Association that brings 22,000. Our dates are Feb 1- 6th. I chose this time period because it's the end of my sons semester and he has Fri and Monday off that week-- figure it's ok for him to miss a few days of his first next. Also Superbowl Sunday is that weekend so I figure less crowd. Can anyone tell me more about the Mardi Gras thing? Sounds fun.

Usually the first week of Feb is great. We usually go the first or second week, and we generally have had better luck with low crowds during the first week. The National Dace Comps are usually during that time. I believe the are coming in on Feb 1 for 2008. They usually stay at the All Star Resorts and Caribbean Beach. They really do not impact the park crowds too badly, but if they are staying at a resort that you are you will notice them.

Mardi Gras is Feb 5 for 2008. I haven't been there during Mardi Gras, but from reading other posts it seems like a lot of people from LA visit during this time since school is out. So, I am not familiar with crowds during Mardi Gras.

Yeah I've been in Portland at a hotel when that dance competition is going on-- it's a big deal-- glitter and sequins everywhere lol. I'm sure they all go to Disneyland too-- oh well lol. I already have my hotel

You can tell I'm new to this-- I wasn't finished..
I was wondering if the Cali schools might have the same days off as ours-- Oregon. If there is a crowd at Disneyland on Mardi Gras-- I don't think I'll mind-- sounds like a fun place to be for it. I already called and booked the Travelodge because after much research (ugh) found it to be perfect for us as we are driving and bringing food (micro fridge) has a jacuzzi for me, the cont. breakfast and though it has mixed reviews were just not picky people and the manager seems very nice and gave me a great deal. I was getting frustrated because I think it's just too far out to get good rates but that calling the hotels thing does work...:-) Now I just have to lose 25 #'s. I will too-- it's great motivation, I want to not have a sore back and be camera shy. Thanks for the input.
