Feb 2016 Trip - ISO Tips Regarding Crowd Levels!

Hello,

I have done some research with different crowd calendars for the first weekend of February 2016. I am seeing a lot of conflicting reports. Most seem to say moderate crowds. I am however also a member of touringplans.com and they seem to be reporting high crowd levels in the 7-9 range the entire time I'm there (Feb 5-10). I found touringplans to be pretty spot on for my trip in 2014. Also nervous because ALL of the moderate resorts are fully booked over the time I am going, I know this because I called trying to switch resorts. Anyone have any advice?

I think they're predicting high crowds due to the cheerleading competition that will be taking place at World of Sports on the 7th and 8th. From what many people have said about previous cheerleading weekends, the cheerleaders will probably be busy doing their thing on the 7th and 8th, but may be in the parks during the days leading up to and following the competition. The moderate resorts are probably more booked up because the cheerleaders tend to fill up the value resorts. Hopefully it won't affect your stay too much!

That is also Mardi Gras, so all the schools in Louisiana are on break that week. A lot of people from here go to Disney at that time. I have found touringpans to be pretty spot on in the past.

Twirl mania follows the cheerleading group. Value will be sold out and the CBR is the overflow resort. Presidents week is busy. That is when all the schools in the New England states have winter break for a week and flock to Florida. We have seen a lot of Daytona 500 folks stay at Disney and that is when the twirl troops arrive. And the airport will be filled with groups of twirl group girls.

Hmm this is possible bad news. Sounds like its going to be crowded and cheerleader central in WDW when I am there. Oh well, I'll have to make the best of it since it was the only time my husband and I could arrange. Thanks for the input all!

We have done the "mardi gras escape" for years...February is always decent, unless Mardi Gras falls during President's Week...it is one of our favorite times of the year to go

I will be there also during Mardi Gras week.(which is the week before President's week). I booked 6 months ago, staying at the Boardwalk. There were no rooms with Boardwalk view available. So I requested a room closer to the elevator. There was also very limited rooms available off sight. We will be arriving a day before so I booked a room off grounds. It seems it that the crowd predictions will be on spot.

We will be there the 7th through the 14th and were really nervous when we saw the tour plans crowd levels too. The crowds are small the week before and the week after. Guess we'll make the best of it too!
