I know! You just really wanted to be closer to the Robinson family. :) We are in 7562 & 7563.

J/K, I hope that you wanted the change and that it all worked out the way you hoped!

Thanks so much!

I just read that all versions of the 2011 Entertainment Book include a $2 Super Shuttle coupon. I'm not sure if it is per person or just $2 off of one person's fare.

We just got our room assignment for the cruise. I'm a first timer so this is all confusing for me. The planning center reads "Category 05C, #7586." We definitely had a 5C GTY room but I think 7586 is a 5A room? If so, I guess we got a bit of an upgrade. :) Looks like there are quite a few of us on deck 7.

We are coming from sacramento also, sounds like there are a few of us.

I am planning on driving down on saturday so we can take our time. There is a Crowne Plaza (Los Angeles Harbor Hotel) that is right on the harbor and has a shuttle. They have a Park and Stay rate which will let you keep your car up to 14 days (I want to say $159 or $179 for a single rm for 2, but not sure). I am using hotel points for the stay and the parking is only $10/day.

I like this option better so we can get to the ship as soon as possible sunday and avoid the long lines, especially with the nervous little one. Shorter line means less time for her to freak out about going :)

We're still being indecisive but I think what we are leaning towards is getting a cheaper room in Santa Clarita or thereabouts and then driving the hour or so into port on Sunday morning. We're all early risers so we can get to the port in plenty of time and it will be better than waking up at 3am to drive down Sunday morning (which is what dh would still prefer to do.)

What time is everyone planning on getting to the port? It sounds like there isn't much to see there and I think I'd rather wait until boarding begins than stand in line for hours with antsy little ones.

Just to be safe, I would allow more than an hour from Santa Clarita to the port. If traffic (and weather) is clear, you should be fine but sometimes the 405 can back up for no reason.

I think that 'not much to see there' is actually overstating it. I figured that we'd get there far too early (I'm very excited and want to board as early as possible since this is our first cruise ever), but bring the DVD player, crayons and paper and a few books to keep the kids amused. DH said it was ok to wait for the ship to open up to boarding rather than waiting less time to board, but have less time on the ship.

I'd be very nervous about staying in Santa Clarita because the 405 S is such a disaster, even on supposedly off hours. If you can find a less expensive place on the city side of the hill, you'd probably be better off. I know there's a decent hotel on Centinella in Culver City (just off the 405). I'd bet it's reasonably inexpensive (for an LA hotel) and it's much closer to the port and on the 'right' side of the hill.

PM me if you're interested and I'll do some looking into it. I need to drive past there tomorrow or Thursday so can get the actual name of it for you.

This is what we are doing. We will be overloaded with our electronics since we are driving down (DVD, laptop, ipad, DS, PSP) so the kids can keep themselves plenty busy. I want to arrive as the doors open to get on that boat ASAP!

I have SPA reservations to change/update, PALO dinner if I can get the night I want and Tea w/Alice tickets I need to get! :) Plus, the kiddos are going to want to jump in the pool no matter how warm/cold it is outside.

We'll be there early, too! On our last cruise, which was our first, we were with the second group on the boat and it was great.

So, when the crazy lady in line next to you says to you, "Psst, are you on the DIS?", you'll know it's me! :wave2:

That goes for us too. When you see a lady in line losing her mind cuz her 3 kids are making her nuts and a bald husband...you will know why he lost all his hair!! Ha..ha. Just kidding. We just want to start our vacation as soon as we can!! What time is the earliest we can get to the terminal to check in? I suppose I should know since we live here and all, but I've never been in such a rush to get there.

Thanks!!

Charlene

What are Tea w/Alice tickets? How early do they let you start boarding? This is our first Disney Cruise, so I have a lot of questions.

If we are all waiting, with nothing to do, we should figure out a way to identify each other so we can hang out.

Well, reading the main board, there apparently is "Tea w/Alice" though, some have reported Mad Hatter only, anyways, that takes place on our sea days. You need a ticket (free) to get in. My DD will LOVE this, I am packing her Alice dress specifically for this event! That and her Belle dress for formal night. She needs her own large suitcase. :thumbsup2

I don't know what time they will let us board or get to the terminal. I have read about the FL port, but I am anxiously awaiting the first MR cruise to see what people report back!

This is also our first Disney cruise. I am so excited I swear I read these boards like 3x's a day.....first thing in the morning, on my lunch break and at night before bed! (plus any other time I can sneak on!) I am so addicted!

I'll be in the group of 5 and me and the kids will all probably be carrying red backpacks that say Coach Silence on them. HAH. That and each of us with a large carry on because I'm going to overpack...it is a given. My husband is already stressing over it looking at all my FE stuff. That stuff also needs it's own suitcase. :scared1:

You caught me! lol

Well, I am happy we were able to get the wheelchair accessible room. Just not too happy I need it! It is actually for me. I had total knee replacement on Nov 17th. My recovery was going very well! Then on Dec 21st I developed a hole in my incision. I started packing it with antimicrobial ribbon 2X a day for 2 weeks + was on antibiotics, yet it still became infected -- I am actually typing this from my hospital bed-- I had surgery #10 today to try & clean out the infection & close up the wound. I am having a very painfull & sleepless night in the hospital!

I promised DS almost 11, that we would go on this cruise no matter what! He has been such a good sport the past 5 + weeks-- has basically lived with my parents & unless I am in a hospital bed, I am going on this cruise for him! I have an ECV being delivered to me on the ship. Not sure how much I will need to use it-- I am assuming not all the time, just the longer distances-- but I feel better now that I do have it!

Dh & I were in 7086 on the Maiden Voyage of the Magic back in 1998 for our Honeymoon! GREAT location!!!

I have a car picking us up at Disney's Grand Californian for the port @ 10:00, so I should be there around 11:00... I have been debating on making it earlier.

I was on the 14 night Transatlantic in April & there were like 90 families in our FE group-- and probably 120 families from DIS. We had special lanyards & Tags made up for us so we would know each other. People wore their DIS lanyards all week!

If we are all waiting, with nothing to do, we should figure out a way to identify each other so we can hang out.

I will be the one on the snazzy scooter!! Actually I have one rented for Disneyland that I leave there when I check out & a different one that will be waiting for me in 7636! So I will be scooter-less in the terminal!

If anyone has pre cruise questions about the San Pedro and nearby area- places to eat, things to do, places to shop, please feel free to ask.

I can field all the food questions and my wife would be best at the shopping questions. In fact, she was at the Target in San Pedro yesterday looking for FE gifts...
