Sunday Feb 18th, our last full day at WDW.
My parents leftfor home in the morning after breakfast in our rooms.
We always spend our first and last day at the MK, so off we went to the MK.
I thought it would be packed but it wasn't that much more crowded than it had been.
We basically went on everything we didn't get a chance to do first like Peter Pan, Lion King Show, Jungle Cruise, Haunted Mansion and Tom Sayer Island. Then we hit Splash Mt., Small World, Buzz Lightyear and Pirates again.
We also watched the 3:00 Magical Moments parade. My 3 year old really enjoyed it but my 9 year old had seen it so many times before she was a little bored with it. It's
time for a new MK afternoon parade !
We had lunch at Cosmic Rays but I can't remember where we had dinner. It was somewhere quick I think.
We left after the fireworks.
That night we had to do a lot of packing because we were leaving the next morning.
Monday Feb 19th... In the morning we had one last character breakfast at the Cape May Cafe. (our 3rd time this trip). It was very good as usual. This is another one of our traditions, have a character breakfast the day we are leaving. It gives the kids a chance to see some characters right before we go and also eliminates the need to stop for lunch.
The last 5 or 6 years we have been taking the Auto Train to Florida. It works out well for us. The train leaves Lorton, VA at 4:00 pm.
Lorton is about 20 minutes south of Washington, DC.
They put your car or van (in our case) on the train. We always get a sleeper car but some people go coach. The train leaves at 4:00 pm and arrives in Sandord, FL at 8:30 am.
Most of the trip you are sleeping. Sanford is about 40 minutes northeast of WDW. You just take I-4 West the whole time.
If you get a sleeper you also get dinner in the dinning car. They have lounge cars with windows too. It's a fun way to travel and the kids really enjoy it. Plus, you don't have to rent a car whe nyou get to Florida.
The downside is it takes longer than plane and is expensive if you get a sleeping car.
After breakfast we drove to Downtown Disney and my wife did some last minute shopping while I watched the kids playing.
We left around 1:30 pm for Sanford.
This was our 14th trip in 14 years but we loved it as much as our 1st trip.
Some people always say to us, "Why don't you go somewhere different or you're going back to Disney again, didn't you go there last year ?"
We really love it. We could and usually do go every year. It has everything you could want for a family. The only downside is it's expensive and getting more expensive every year.
Some highlights from our trip were:
The Beach Club.
My favorite hotel in WDW. It's just beautiful there. Being able to walk to Epcot in 5 minutes and take a boat to MGM is just great. The staff was wonderful as well. The pool is by far the best in all of WDW.
Getting room 3691 was a bonus. What a room that is !
The only bad part about the BC this trip was the construction in front of the hotel. They had 3 huge cranes in front and had a lot of construction walls up. But once you were inside you never knew there was construction going on.
California Grill and Fireworks.
This was the 1st time we had eaten there.
The BBQ beef filet was incredible. The best part about that night was the watching the fireworks from the observation deck. It was truly magical !
Palios.
One of the best reataurants in WDW.
Everytime we go the dinner is excellent.
Fantasmic.
2nd time we had seen it but enjoyed it more this time because we were in the 1st row.
A must see show for sure !
Surrey Bikes.
We had a great time riding around the Boardwalk and Beach/Yacht Club.
Boat Rental.
A lot of fun and well worth it.
Tapestry of Nations Parade.
2nd time we had seen this too but enjoyed it much more this time. We watched it in front of Italy which was a great spot. Just seeing the face of my 9 year old daughter when one one of the Butterfly puppet guys let her work the strings during the parade made my entire vacation !
The waiter at Alfredos.
His name was Ugo. He was the friendliest guy you could ever meet. We took a picture with him.
Splash Mountain.
Our favorite ride. We went on at least 4 times. It was the 1st time my 3 year old went on. She had been talking about going on it for months before we went. She loved it. Seeing her face the 1st time she went on it was magical.
Test Track.
One of the best rides in WDW. I still can't believe my mother went on it !
Spending our vacation with my parents.
We had a great time with them. My father losing everything every morning was funny.
I hope you enjoyed my trip reports.
I enjoyed writing them. They brought back some great memories.
