FD vs Canadian Resident Discount

Nothing is "free",lol.
Don't forget for us Canadians, the conversion and service that's added after.for example, say a group of 6 table service would've cost 400 Us.The service would be minimum 72 Us.Now convert that to Canadian and that around 640 Canadian at 35%,so it's probably more.that's an extra $240 Canadian for 1 table service.Like someone said,it's a question if you WANT to.IMO,it's not a bargain.Other than the cost,i found it took away from our park time, and that's why I go there

When comparing the two deals, one must try to compare apples to apples. I first quote the FD deal with Deluxe upgrade. Then I figure the cost of my room discount with Canadian tickets plus Deluxe dining (assuming I can add dining). Compare these two numbers, you can tell which is a better deal. Since room only option comes out $500 cheaper and I won't be paying OOP $208 a day for two adults as it's about $104 per adult a day for Deluxe dining. Free dining is not a good deal for me. This is considering staying at the same resort hotel as well.

We are just two adult travelling, so FD is too much food and more expensive for us. A bigger family sharing one room will find FD a better value.

I agree 100%, we are a family of 6 and find the Quick Service is the only plan that makes sense. With table service, the extra tip plus exchange is just too much for us.

We did the math and for us, FD works out better. We costed out 13 days in August at Pop with Room Only Discount + 10 day Canadian ticket with hopper and waterparks. Came to around $3100 with 4 adults (2 adults + 2 teenage kids). When we did it with free dining promotion (Quick Service), paying rack rate at Pop, non-discounted tickets it worked out to around $4200 for the 4 of us. We are only interested in the Quick Service plan as we don't do many Table Service meals.

The question then is will we spend more or less than $1100 on food (the difference between discounted room+tickets vs rack rate room and tickets) during our 13 days in the park. When I do the math, that means if a family of 4 spends more than $85/day (or roughly $21/person/day) on food (2 QS meals + 2 snacks) than the FD works better. If we spend on average less than $85/day on food in the parks than FD isn't worth it. In our case, two quick service meals + 2 snacks/day/person we will come out ahead with FD the way we plan to eat in the park.

So for us, the math works out for FD. As others have said, it really depends on the resort class, number of people, eating style of the party. So run the numbers.

As an additional note, to my previous post, Do I expect to save a lot of money on FD? Probably not. I think we might come out ahead a couple of hundred dollars with FD.

We have stayed offsite several times over the years, so was looking forward to trying onsite and FD is a nice bonus for us.
