I think we have decided to leave in the evening, drive about 5 hours and stop here, in Fayetteville. Anyone have info on this exit? Is there another that is better perhaps? Any recommendation for hotel there?

I live in NC, but I don't really know much about it except that the Army base is there. (I've always heard it called "Fayette-nam".) It seems to be a safe place. Probably a good choice.

We've stayed at a hotel next to Cracker Barrel there right off I-95 & on the same saide. It used to be a Four Points by Sheraton and then a Clarion, but don't know what it is now. It was nice and clean, nice pool. (That was about 2-3 yrs ago.) Last year we stayed at a Wingate Inn (Skibo Rd) which is further off I-95 and there's a lot of decent hotels around it. I didn't care for most of the hotels right off I-95 as they seemed rather heavily used..although we were going to stay and check out Hampton Inn on Cedar Creek Rd (again by Cracker Barrel) on our way back this year, but we decided to fly instead.

We like to stay at the Holiday Inn off exit 49. Its very nice, indoor pool and clean. We stayed at that Clarion once and won't stay there again. Nice places to eat off this exit also.
