Another lovely Fort Fiend has convinced me to fax in a site request, which I need to do tonight. Does anyone have the number and any suggestions on wording?

Thanks!

RE: Reservation # xxxxxxxx

I am really looking forward to my stay at the Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground and am writing about campsite requests. I do understand that these are only requests and cannot be guaranteed.

If possible, I would like a site in Loop xxxx with a site that will accomodate the following: (list your "stuff" here) and near (whatever you want to be near).

Thanks so much for your help, and once again I’m really looking forward to my annual visit to Ft. Wilderness Resort and Campground.

If you have any questions, I can be reached at xxx-xxx-xxxx or by email at xxx@xxx.xxx

Sincerely,

My most recent trip in my request I mentioned that I had stayed in site xxxx the previous year and it fit my stuff perfectly. They assigned me that very same site.

Just got back from a 6 nighter at the Fort. I faxed a request for Loop 100 four days before arrival and got loop 100.

Does anyone know the phone number to speak to a CM at the fort?

In my many years of going to FW, I have faxed in a loop request (never site request) every time. I have gotten my loop every time except twice. It seems on these trips my vacation has coincided with a weekend church "grand gathering" and this group always requests the 1600 and 1700 loops. Since FW seems to cater to this group, I am now revamping my requests for the 1800 loop and will see if this works better for me. During the two weeks I was at FW this last October, the 1600 and 1700 loops remained nearly empty in order to accomodate this one group for one weekend. While I may question Disney's business practice in this instance, it is their property to do with as they please, so I must adapt.

Hey,

If I put in my request "My husband is in Iraq. I am travelling all alone. I have know idea how to back this thing up. I don't care where you put me, just PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, give me and easy back in site and some pixie dust for good measure." Ya think they would accomodate me????

When I got deployed in '04 I had to cancel my FW trip with little notice. They were sympathetic and refunded my deposit which wasn't supposed to be done. Maybe it will work for you.

If you can't back your camper in, they will send someone out to your site to back you camper in for you.

I am going to copy clkelly's letter and fax it in before our arrival. I am pretty independent and would not be totally comfortable asking for help, but I am getting better about it. LOL

Thanks for posting that letter Carol. As soon as I figure out how to download MS Office on my computer from the internet, I will put it into a document and save it for always.

FWguy, it is good to know that there are compassionate folks there.

ibm2010, I am worried that if someone comes to help me that I will wind up in tears. Hate to start my trip off that way. I am really hoping that they can get me into an easy spot. The last spot we got in our popup was super easy. I was the one who backed that in. This TT is harder.

Maybe we should put this question and clkelly's response in the sticky FAQ thread just in case someone reads it.

Not asking for help...come on now..don't be silly...that's like not asking for directions..that's a MAN thing (no offense to the gentlemen..but you KNOW it's true). Nothing wrong with accepting a helping hand...I'm sure you'd do the same for someone else, right?:goodvibes Of course my husband would rather take down the fence on either side of our driveway before asking for help backing in. (not to mention the basketball pole!) We have a neighbor(we call him the "mayor"..you know the type) who drove a tractor trailer before he retired..the guy LIVES for these things. As soon as he see's us pull down the street he's at the driveway before we even get there trying to guide my husband in. Now, if it were me, I'd hop out, hand him the keys and tell him to knock himself out. ;) My husband on the other hand would like nothing better than to RUN HIM OVER! pirate:
Soo...what to do? Naturally, you do what every red blooded American man would do. You repave your entire driveway,(spending a tidy sum!) widening the entrance so that two tractor trailers could fit through!:thumbsup2
Hey...at least the mayor isn't making an appearance! AND he's not dead on the driveway. :scared: Not to worry though, he found someone else who recently purchased a 5th wheel..so he's keeping busy.

Seriously though, don't worry about asking for a helping hand. You and your husband are sacraficing so much for people like us,:flower3: I'm sure there are helpful FW campers or staff who would gladly lend a hand. ...In fact, I have a neighbor who would meet you there and .....nahhh...never mind I wouldn't do that to ya!
