Faxing Room Requests

Is it worthwhile to fax a room request? I've read that such requests should be faxed four days before arrival. What format should the request take? And does anyone have the fax number for POR?

Thanks.

I have never faxed in a room request in the past. I have my requests made at the time I make the reservation. The way I look at it is that as long as I get a non-smoking room then I'm happy. I think that sometimes we worry too much about our view or the trek to the lobby.

As far as what the phone numbers are, I did find one for POR. But I'm not sure it's still the one. It is...407-934-5777. Which section are you looking at? We loved AB and found that the Mansion section was quite beautiful. Magnolia Terrace is a nice bldg and a quick walk to the main pool and food court. If you are looking at AB then bldg 14 is a good choice I believe.

We stayed at Magnolia Terrace the last two times we went to POR, and we'd like to stay there again. I did, in fact, request Magnolia Terrace when I made the room reservation through Disney.

Maybe a faxed (re)-request is not necessary?

I did read somewhere that faxed requests are more effective, and that it's smart to send one even if the request has been made with the reservation.

We're going in late January, so I'm sure that with the light crowds it won't be a problem getting into Magnolia Terrace. I just like to cover my bases.

We are going Feb.3-8 staying at POR.I was told to fax request 3 days before arrival.I am stating non-smoking,top floor on corner and building 14 or 18.

Well its only takes like 2 minutes to do, so IMO it is worth it.

I do both actually- I fax and have it noted on my reservation.

Many of the resorts are no longer accepting faxed room requests - they should be noted on your reservation when you make it.

This is true. While it used to be recommended to send a fax and I have done so in the past I have read posts here and on another forum from CM's who work at the hotels and they said the faxes got out of hand so they don't accept them at all at WL anymore and they get tossed into the trash at other resorts because there are far too many for them to deal with. Make any requests at time of booking and then ask again at check in.

They will "accept" them since it is a fax but chances are they won't do anything with them. Too many people are faxing requests so your best chance of getting what you want is to have the requests noted in your reservation. You can call reservations and have them added.
