faxing room requests

We are staying at CBR the second week of August. Instead of faxing in a room request for a specific building, has anyone tried just asking for the closest room possible to OPR? If so, how did it work out? I would assume even if you are far away and have your car you could just drive over. This is the case with us.

I just usually ask when I check in for a room close to OPR. Even if a room has been assigned i have always gotten the area I wanted.
