Hi,
Is it still 'permissable' to fax room requests to the room assigner?

Thanks,
Mark

Many of the resorts are frowning on this now. Some the resorts were being so overwhelmed with faxes that they stopped accepting/reading them. Your best bet is to make your requests with CRO and they will note them on your reservation. I guess there is nothing to stop you from trying to fax a request.
We've had good luck listing our preferences with CRO.

Kind of what I thought...Thanks for the tips:)

I made our request when booking with CRO(Cabanas section at CSR), so we'll see what happens.
Our (wonderful) last stay at CSR was at the Casitas, so we thought we'd like to stay at a different location and be a bit closer to the pool this time around.

Thanks again,
Mark

Skyhawk ( another poster here on DIS, AND a CM at CBR) said that they still do accept the faxes. It wouldnt hurt. Just dont fax it any earlier than 3 days before your arrival. The resort doesnt get the reservation until 3 days before your arrival. He said that CBR is getting the reservations from CRO at about 10 days out but that may just be the CBR.

I am worried that my ressie with AAA will not have my requests as I can not deal with CRO....only AAA. I was thinking of FAXing the POLY just in case.

Before you fax only, call the CRO and ask if they can try to pull up the reservation that AAA made for you. If so, have them note the requests then.

Fax your room request 4 days prior to your arrival, not 3. They block your room 3 days before so it is best to send it 4 days before you arrive, that way you know they haven't gone through the room request faxes yet. That is what I did in December and the CM told me that the resort had received my room request. It worked out great because I got the room that I requested. :flower:

This is directly from allearsnet and Deb Wills explains the whole faxing thing: :) "No requests should be sent until 4 days prior to actual check-in. The resorts do not get to download the reservations from the CRO/WDTC computers until 10 days before your arrival and the room assigners generally block your rooms 3 days before. If you fax a request to a resort before they have the reservation in their computers and are ready to assign it, they will file it in a special "pass" folder. That folder should be checked daily to pull out faxes that came in early but there is always the chance yours could be missed. The best way to avoid getting in the Pass folder is to not send in your request until 4 days before.

Figure your 4 days prior to arrival this way:

Thursday - Arrival day/check-in
Wednesday - 1 day prior
Tuesday - 2 days prior
Monday - 3 days prior
Sunday - 4 days prior"

So then this faxing is still allowed? We're 1st going to Myrtle Beach on 4/11, then Savannah on 4/16, and finally to Disney on 4/18. We were planning on calling CRO in the next few days with our requests for AKL and CR cause we thought they didn't accept faxed requests anymore. I guess we could bring along a fax sheet and send it out while we're in Myrtle Beach, but does anything think it would be necessary if we note our request with CRO? I'm not overly concerned about CR cause either bay or park view will be fine, and we'll already be in Disney then anyway, but we're staying at AKL first. We really do not want to be on the Sunset Savannah (stayed there once, literally no animals except for 11pm and later everyday of our trip) but don't care about Arusha or Uzima, either is fine. We also really want the 2nd floor. We stayed there our 1st trip and it was perfect, then stayed on the 5th floor the last 2 and hated it. Much too high for us. We'd also prefer Zebra Trail, but most important are no Sunset Savannah and 2nd floor. So based on that info should we just call CRO or also send a fax? Our flight arrives at 2:26pm, so my guess is we'll be checking in around 4ish if that makes a difference. I have no problem waiting for a room if it's not ready, or asking at the front desk for a different room if one is available, but would obviously prefer to have a good room assigned to begin with. Thanks for the help

ETA: We have faxed in a request once before, and called in a request 2 other times (fax number wasn't working) and had great luck with that. Normally though, we don't make requests as we don't really care where in the resort we are. This time though we know we definitely prefer some parts of AKL over others, plus we're taking my 17yo BIL with us and it's his 1st visit since he was about 9 and he's very excited about AKL so we definitely want a good room.

justhat: I would call CRO and have them note on your reservation what your room requests are. Then fax your room request 4 days prior. I personally think it doesn't hurt and does sometimes make a difference. We were successful in getting the room we wanted because of our fax. The CM said to us that they had receieve our fax with our room request.

I would fax your room request anyway because it doesn't hurt to try. :sunny:
