Faxing in Room View Requests

I read somehwere that if you fax a room view request roughly ten days prior to check-in, it increass your chances of getting what you want. Has anyone ever done this and found it to be successful?

I used the fax request tool on TouringPlans, and it worked for me! Got a savanna view for a value studio at AKL (values can be savanna view or regular view).

I didn't think they took faxes any more?! Faxing has kinda gone the way of the dinosaur lately. I used to always call MS with my requests but only had about a 35% success rate with that. I have begun using the contact us email feature on the DVC member website after reading here that it is a reliable way. It takes a few days to hear back but they do respond once the request has been added. I feel like it's at least in writing. We'll have our first trip coming up at the Poly in June where I've done this so we'll see....

Nope. They don't accept faxes anymore.

No, it didn't work. You just happened to get lucky. There are 8 pool, 8 savanna, and 2 parking lot view studios. So, that's about a 45% chance of getting a savanna view. They will not accept nor honor any requests related to the value category rooms.

We've had the TP faxes work on the hotel side. An exact match to the room requested isn't a coincidence. Others have reported the same with DVC reservations.

It can't hurt to try.

I was told at VWL that faxes go straight into the trash and only requests attached to reservations are looked at.

But when they're reporting it with AKV Value? The odds are that it's coincidence. You can't request rooms in that category.

I have used the "chat" feature on the DVC member website. They took all the information and it was really quick. A few weeks later I went into chat again and asked them to confirm if I had made any requests and they read them back exactly as I stated them. Seems to be a time saver too, over calling.

Considering that a few years ago DVC expressly asked for members to not fax I wouldn't. We just put our requests in on our reservation and have had positive experience with that. With the smaller room categories I agree that it's a 50/50 chance and it's just as likely luck as anything.

DVC reservations in general - haven't paid attention to specifics.

Thanks everyone. In the past I've had luck with my requests made directly with DVC member services. I won't waste my time faxing anything based on your responses. Here's hoping for fifth floor overlooking village green!
