FAX machine problems-help!

We now have a dedicated line for our FAX machines, as DH works for an out of state company and most communication is via Fax...but we also get faxes from various contractors.

We get lots of Faxes......but sometimes the Fax machine rings, it says "connecting" and nothing goes through & I can't call the person back because nothing happens before the caller's fax # is displayed on my machine.

Anyone else have this problem?

Yes, sometimes the person on the other end doesn't know how to operate the equipment. Some people don't get the hang of "push start" and let it go through. We have also found that some newer fax machines are not compatible with older fax machines and they "don't communicate". There is nothing I know of that can be done in that situation. They just have to find a machine that will complete the fax, I guess. It can be very frustrating, especially if you have been waiting for that fax and you really need it!!

I have a line for my fax. Most of the time when I get a call but no fax it's actually a telemarketer calling.
