Could you please share your favourite counter service restaurants at DHS? We need one for a dinner during our vacation and not sure where to go. THANKS!

For us the best CS is anywhere other than in the Studios!! If you have kids people have said that the Pizza Planet is okay. The bakery has good sandwiches but they are premade and limited. This is the one park that lacks a good place.

We have tried several and are not that impressed.

Our last trip we ate at both Starring Rolls and Fairfax Fare.

The food at Starring Rolls was pretty good, especially the pastries for dessert but the portions aren't really large enough for a dinner and I am not sure they are open that late anyways.

As for Fairfax Fare, the best thing I can say about it was the portions were generous. On the DP we got two orders of the ribs and chicken and shared it among three people for lunch. The food tasted okay but it had kind of an unappealing look to it.

CS at the Studios is generally the worst in WDW, but whenever we're there we eat at the Backlot Express and it's okay.

Wow! Really that bad! Guess I'll have to reconsider our options for that night. Maybe we'll take the boat over to Epcot to eat and then come back. Thanks for your advice! :)

Backlot Express isn't so bad that I'd make a special trip out of HS and then back again in order to avoid eating there. It just won't be anything stellar.

We ate at Pizza Planet for lunch and we thought it was good. We did have our son (5 at the time).... but we found the pizzas to be more than decent, and the salads were really good too. I was happy with it.

That's what I would do....OR take a boat to the Boardwalk and eat at Beaches and Cream!

We usually eat at Backlot Express. It's nothing to shout about, but it's decent. They have the pre-requisites for my family: chicken nuggets for my 4-yr-old and a cheeseburger for my 8-yr-old. I like the turkey sandwich - it's different and pretty tasty. Also, they have fill-your-own drink fountains so you get free refills.

I don't think the choices at DHS are that bad - certainly not bad enough to leave the park just for a CS meal. We always go to the "food court" type place that includes Rosie's All American (burgers, chicken strips), Toluca Legs Turkey Co (turkey legs) & Catalina Eddie's (pizza, hot Italian sandwiches, caeser salads). They are walk up windows with outdoor covered seating. Usually everyone in our family can find something here they like. DH, DD17 & I really like the hot sandwiches at Eddie's. (They're the same ones served at Pizzafari in AK.)

The menu at Fairfax Fare has changed since our last visit & it looks pretty good: BBQ chicken, ribs, pulled pork sandwiches, & chili dogs. Has anyone tried this yet?

We've eaten at ABC Commissary and Pizza Planet. ABC Commissary was horrible, but that was two years ago and I have heard that it has gotten better. Pizza Planet wasn't bad, actually. We enjoyed it. The pizza wasn't horrible.

Actually ABC Commissary is one of our favorite CS with the Curry Chicken and other flavourful choices instead of burgers, pizza or chicken. If it has gone downhill that would be sad. I had the curry chicken in Jan it was good, besides then we ate there in 9/07 and 9/08 and all was good.

We like to eat at the Backlot Express when we go to DHS. I actually look forward to having their grilled turkey and cheese sandwiches.

Starring Rolls is our favorite CS in DHS, but like someone else said I don't know if it's open for dinner. They have sushi there now in addition to the sandwiches!

We had dinner at Pizza Planet last week and it was OK.
