Where's your favorite place to stay at WDW for "the holidays" We're thinking of going next Dec - mid month. BWV is our home resort, but I was thinking about WLV because of that HUGE Christmas tree. Of course, I just looked at the map, and it looks like you could come and go from your villa and never see the tree. So what's your favorite DVC resort? (I don't want to use the excess points for a non-DVC resort)

VWL would be my first choice and will be for Dec. 2005. The villas also have a very nice tree and are decorated.

If you stay at VWL you'll spend plenty of time in the main lobby. That's how you get to Roaring Forks for breakfast, as well as the two more formal restaurants (Artists Point being one of WDW's best). It's where you check in, where you go to the Mercantile to shop or pick up package deliveries, and it's next to the big pool.

I'm not a big fan of WL most of the year--the pine tree theme seems odd to me in Florida. But during the winter holidays the place is absolutely grand!

I've got to put in my vote for one of the Epcot resorts. Personally, I prefer the BCV to BWV, but that's because I'm a Cape Cod beach lover. But walking around the Boardwalk listening to the Christmas tunes is great;as well as the convenience to Epcot, which is really "where it's happening" for Christmas, I think-Holiday storytellers, CP, Christmas tree lighting (I know MK has one too, but you can't beat the lump in my throat from the tree lighting in Epcot); and now that the Osborne Lights are back at MGM, you can walk over there. Oh, yes-one last thing-the Christmas tree made of poinsettas on the Village Green at Boardwalk. When I think of Christmas at WDW, I think of the Epcot resorts.

OK, So its' my first year as DVC owner. Should I book home resort (BWV) at 11 month and try for WVL at 7 month? We usually get a studio.

Rpsemont that is what I did this year and I am very glad that I did. I booked a 2 bedroom at BCV at 11 months and tried to book a 2 bedroom at VWL at exactly 7 months out and I have been on the waiting list ever since. At least I have a room at BCV.

Though we have never STAYED there, I would have to vote for VWL. The holiday decorations and atmosphere are awesome.

Another vote for VWL here.... Then again, I would vote for VWL no matter what time of year it was! :teeth:

Yes, VWL is the place to be for holiday decor and atmosphere. I do kind of like the Florida feel of OKW though too. The decor is pretty low key, but I love how everyone decorates their balconys with lights. We plan to do that next week too!

I have to agree with MG. There is never a wrong time to be at VWL. It's probably the only place in Florida where in the middle of August I don't mind sitting in front of one of the lobby fireplaces.

So hard to answer this objectively unless you have stayed at all of the resorts.

I have only stayed at BWV, OKW and BCV. I would vote for either BWV or BCV. BWV has lovely decorations in the lobby - a very old-fashioned feel. You are greeted by a huge poinsettia tree outside and the huge tree outside near the board walk is beautiful.

At BCV, the tree in the center of the entranceway is wonderful. And you walk thru the BC lobby to get anywhere so see the big tree there and the gingerbread carousel.

I'm sure the VWL are lovely, but just haven't seen it, so can't comment.

For OKW, I would say the Christmas decorations would largely depend on your unit and others around you - as you aren't necessarily always walking thru the main area of the resort.

We love BWV. The lobby is so beautiful. It's great to be close to Epcot & MGM with their Christmas shows. I'm sure VWL is nice too, but we're not into the "wilderness theme".

Nothing like VWL during the holidays

I have always been partial to VWL. I believe that the lodge setting with a huge Christmas tree is fantastic. I love grabbing a book or a newspaper and going to one of the nooks on the second or third floor of the main lodge and just relaxing with a cup of hot chocolate.
