I've been wondering: what are all of your favorite walking trails/animal experiences at Animal Kingdom?

Maharajah Jungle Trek is the one I walked with my dad last time and the two of us really enjoyed it. It was nice to get away from the crowds for a while, and just see some cool animals. I loved the bats especially there. It helped me rest and keep going for the rest of the day.

Safari of course is also a highlight, but that's also generally a ride as well and I feel like it belongs more in that category.

The Wild Africa Trek is awesome, although pricey.

We make a point of doing both trails. Honestly though our usual AK routine is to walk the park in a counterclockwise direction, go through all the shops, do both trails, ride the safari, do photopasses, eat lunch at Tiffins, and leave.

I also think the Discovery Island trails are the best. You can get so close to the Tree of Life. And it seems to me that a lot of people skip them, which is a shame. There are tortoises and kangaroos on those!

It would help if the signage was better. I was looking for the tortoises last trip and headed down the wrong trail, missed them completely.

Maharajah, love the bats and the birds. Although the gorillas are fun but it can get crowded, the other isn't as popular.

Maharajah gets the edge for me because of the birds. I could watch them for hours!

But otters are my favorite animal, so Discovery Island gets a vote too :)

I like the gorillas, but specifically the "bachelor gorillas" as opposed to the family are my favorite. The bachelor gorillas are near the end of the trail on the left. They remind me of adolescent boys! One day in January, I must have stood for an hour watching them. They'd all been given blankets by the Animal Keepers that morning, most likely to keep them warm. One gorilla really loved his blanket, spreading it out on the ground to sit on. But two other gorillas kept trying to distract him, then steal his blanket and hiding it. And at the time, the gorillas had to go in one at a time or else they'd start fighting if they got too close to each other. It reminded me of the year I taught middle school when I couldn't send two boys to the pencil sharpener at the same time, or they'd pretend their pencil was a sword and chase each other. Those bachelor gorillas are so fun to watch!

We always do both walking trails. Both have a lot to see. In general, you see much more of the gorillas, then you do of the tigers. But when the tigers are out and active, they are amazing.

I enjoy watching both the Africa and Asia trails. I think one of the highlights is chatting with the cast members (guides) along the trails. They are willing to answer the million and one questions that I can come up with. I can easily spend way too much time on those trails. Just a small part of why AK is my favorite park.

I like Maharaja becuase of the giant fruit bats - they are so cool and not something I can see at my local zoo.

Another great animal experience if you can catch it is to go to Rafiki's Planet Watch and watch them perform medical procedures on the animals. They do this in the morning on the early-ish side and not every day. I did catch them once prepping a huge vulture for surgery and got a very up-close look at him. He was sedated and awaiting a removal of something on his foot, so nothing too serious. I didn't stay for the whole thing bcause it was getrting close to lunch time and I was hungry.

I love all of the trails at AK. In fact, I love the whole atmosphere of AK.
That's the only park that I miss in our absence from WDW. There's so much to see and do in AK. Just watching the various animals on those trails are a bonus to me:)

The aviary on the Maharajah Jungle Trek is actually my one can’t-miss stop at Animal Kingdom! There’re lot of cool birds there you can’t find anywhere else!

TOTALLY depends on what you are looking for ...

If you want lots of shade, quiet, low key, minimal animals that would be Discovery Trails.

If you like quiet, less people, birds and a few exotics then Maharajah Jungle Trek.

If you like a variety of lots of animals, from fish to gorillas with more "interaction" then African Trail.

Have you also spent much time in the aviary in Gorilla Falls (although the Bee Weavers are taking it over!). They have a couple benches in there where I love to sit for a while and watch the birds. Do they have benches in the aviary on the Maharajah Jungle Trek? I agree-they have lots of interesting and colorful birds there.
