I am in charge of booking our GG family meals at our reunion in December. We are going to do 4-5 group meals; the balance we've all agreed are best spent without each other. Too much of a good thing, you know :rotfl:

So, I wanted to see what restaurants other GG parties have enjoyed or disliked, and why...

I am avoiding self-serve buffets - all other options are open at this point!

Wow avoiding self serve buffets? I was going to say 1900 Park Fare - because it had a great variety of food, that appealed to a large group - they used to have great seafood, and beef choices - as well as salads, and desserts...

We've eaten at Kona, Ohana, 1900 Park Fare, and California Grill (had to get first seating for most of them) then we did a few CS places Sunshine Seasons and Pecos Bill -

it can be a real hair puller trying to please as many people as you can! Glad you have only a few all together! You'll appreciate the time w/o the group!!

Yep, the concensus among the family was no self serve buffets for the group dining. Took much time up and down, not enough sitting around and enjoying the meal and conversation. We all agreed if you want a self serve buffet, then you do that on non-group meal nights :goodvibes

Not sure if you have any little ones in your group but if you do, you may want to reconsider a buffet or two. Depending on what time you get seated it can take a long time to get ordered and be served. We did Boma 2 years ago for Thanksgiving and all 13 of our GG loved it. This year will be doing Boma again...now with 15...there are 2 toddlers now. My little guy won't sit for long periods of time so it would be pretty miserable for us to have to wait a long time for food. Just a thought. Also, we are NOT a buffet eating family...never eat them at home.

Well if no Self Serve buffets then my suggestion is out.

With my GG of 11 people (inc. 2 children) our FAVORITE TS meal together was Biergarten in Epcot. Their tables can accomodate (even if you need 2 tables back to back) large parties, it's a festive atmosphere, great food, good music, dancing (if you want to). I booked it for the adults but it was my kids favorite TS!

Oh, we did O'Hana as well. That's not self serve but you do get food quickly. The food was very good and it was a fun environment; overall a thumbs up.

coral reefe...nice atmosphere and great food. you might also like to try out captain's grille. i hear that place has great seafood and steaks. i agree with no buffets, sit downs are much nicer imo.

We're doing on of our "Grand Gathering" (party of 10, ages range from 16 months - 73 years old) meals at Ohana for breakfast. It's served family style, they have characters for the kids, and Ohana means family so I thought that was so perfect!! Its next Thursday, so I will let you know how it goes

'Ohana for a dinner is on my list... since the family style meal allows us all to remain seated. The food has gone down hill in the last couple of years, but since a couple of the guests in our party have never tried it, we're not adverse to going back.

Boma remains one of the few buffets beings considered as a possibility on the group front - but ideally those of us who really want Boma have asked to do it sans-party. So, it's in my list of back ups!

We've got three little ones in our GG - I've got the two youngest at 10 months old and 3 years old. My neice is 4 years old. Then the age jumps to 12 and up. We're really lucky - since all the young ones are beyond good at meal time (waiting) and a couple of us mamas vary the goodies everynight to keep them entertained. Not to mention Grandpa is one of those people who's perfect at keeping the young minds busy - he even boggles my mind. So, we're not worried about the wait at sit downs.

Oooh, I always forget about Coral Reef. I think the tank would keep everyone entertained. Will have to put that out to the group today...
