My wife and I are going to disneyland with our 5mo old. What are some of your favorite things to do with infants? Where do you take your stroller naps? (ie not back to the room naps)

So far we're going to take it slow (a 3 day trip) and we're bringing a grandparent as backup.

Any other tips?

Oh gosh - what a great age! Make sure you bring your sling or carrier. That will get you through lines with ease! Also, they can nap in it - both of mine did!

You can take them on more stuff at that age than you can when they get older and start discovering fear! We couldn't ride Pirates at all once my oldest turned 15 months. She finally agreed and tried it a few months ago - at 3.5!

Stroller naps for us are on the go. (Except they won't nap anymore!) When they were younger - ours just crashed. At that point, we would wander, shop, take turns riding things, or just hang out and talk to each other. We don't get any of that personal conversation time nowadays!

Just use the trip to discover all of you as a family. I think you'll find it less stressful and more fun that way! Oh yeah, and have grandma sit one night, so you can have a great meal at the Napa or even just a drink and dessert in their lounge....

use a Baby Bjourn or something similar. We took DD at 6 months and we kept her in the carrier on and off the rides. She slept in it and still rode PP and everything. My favorite memories and photos are in Mickeys house. We put DD on Mickeys chair, in magical mop buckets, etc.

Either I would stay home with an infant, or have a trusted relative watch the baby.

Have a wonderful time..and..use that grandparent!!!
What time of the year are you going? We took our son during the summer..and..it was too hot to have him in a sling..so..that should be considered as well.

We took our (then) 8-month-old to WDW last December and had no idea what to expect.

One of the best things we did turned out to be the character meal. He loved all of the characters--especially the "nonhuman" ones like Winnie the Pooh and Tigger. We have some priceless video and photos of him getting hugs and attention from all of the characters.

I know that the character dining options aren't as abundant in DL, but I always encourage people with little ones to try to get some character time for them. (But my little boy loves attention and people--if your baby is more shy, this might not be the best idea.)

I hope you have a great trip!

We took DGD 9 months over Easter. It was a blast, she loved many of the rides. And we have many wonderful pics and memories.
The train, omnibus, character meals and of course HM, POTC, SW,and poohbear were the easiest and funnest with her that she also enjoyed.
Then we discovered rider switch and we all really had a blast.

The coolest spot we found for stroller naps was critter country and the hungry bear restaurant before lunch. The patio is covered and overlooks the water. Great spot to catch your breath and recharge.
We hardly went back to the hotel.
And I agree with PP that slings and carriers are wonderful! Just keep in mind the heat in a carrier, like PP said too.
Enjoy! :)

We took our DD when she was 5 months and had a great trip. A sling worked GREAT for us. She slept in it and rode in it for lines. Also, love the Beco and ergo type carriers. She took most of her naps in the carrier and we just kept on riding! She LOVED small world and pooh! I think those 2 made the biggest impression on her and maybe monster's inc. But, we rode pretty much everything that didn't have height restrictions.

Back by Pooh at both the restaurant and back by the character meet and greet it is really shady for resting/napping and also on the back side of the MH. Those are three places I remember sitting and visiting the most! Be sure to use the babysitter pass so that you can all take turns riding. If you aren't sure how that works, just ask!

Be sure to bring a hat and sunscreen and we tried to dress baby in lightweight but full coverage clothes. The sun was probably my biggest concern. Also, a blanket worked well for keeping the stroller covered. Use the baby care centers when you can as they are really nice! Otherwise, just have fun!!

What a great age ~ not a new born and not yet mobile/toddling around. I think you'll have a great time, Gma/Gpa will be a great help. I agree about a sling/carrier *there are better options than the Bjorn* and a stroller.

If you don't want back pain, trust me, invest in an ergo or beco carrier. Best piece of baby equipment I have ever invested in.

The trip we took when our littlest pirate was that age was one of my favorites. Babies are so portable and easily pleased at that age (at least, mine were, even the one who now has a challenging temperament). Naps in stroller are a great time for having a Mickey bar in a shady spot, trading off on rides and people watching. Mine slept more often in the ergo so we'd also do shows and rides. I had older kids so I spent a lot of time walking the sleeping baby in the Ergo all over Tom Sawyer's Island too.

I have to agree that a sling carrier is a great thing to have especially while waiting in lines! Just as long as you are going with the expectation that you might not get to everything you will be fine! Take it slow and really enjoy the scenery as you go. It is also fun to people watch and I got plenty of that in while BFing my little one on benches.

Do you know if there are limits on what rides you can wear the Carrier on. I assume that any ride with height restrictions would be out, but what about dark rides with lap bars, (e.g. mr toad) are those ok?

We're going in late May, so it could be mild or hot (it was 97 in april last time we were there). DS is a hot baby, so we're conscious of the heat and the front pack.

Has anyone used the Baby Center? Are there usually lines or is it pretty convenient? DSIL used it a lot when we went with our 7mo nephew a few years back.

thanks for all the tips.

The baby center has a private breastfeeding area for mommy and baby only. There is a training toilet for toddlers, a large tub for washing out cloth diapers and clothing, changing tables, high chairs, and lots of baby stuff to buy. Adults pop in for the destin and baby powder for themselves. It is also the lost and found.

The baby carriers cannot make it so that riding is unsafe for the child or parent. If they do an e-stop and you are thrown backwards into the seat there could be a sore baby. On disabilities board moms said the sling was really handy and easy to use. I know on the canal boats they told a dude to take his backpack off and he did not have a baby in it so as you see some rides are absolutely no carriers.
