Favorite things to do in the World Showcase?

In Japan watching the candy lady. She is so awesome. I also like to "drink" around the world and do some shopping.

I like doing...
a) chocolate around the world- most countries sell candy for around $2-3, so chocolate addicts can enjoy doing a "highly scientific" compare/contrast study

b) If you don't want to eat your way around, I like to see what kind of cool souvenir I can find in each country for $5 or under.

c) talking to the CMs! Ask about where they're from, how they ended up here, or just trying out my pathetic language skills

d) the entertainers! I love MoRockin, British Invasion, the Chinese acrobats- just about everything!

The World Showcase Players in the UK!
My kids have laughed about them for years. To this day no one in our family can mention the Holy Grail without a cheer of "Grail! Grail! Grail!" We've seem that show and the Christmas one a couple of times, and they're always hilarious.
I also vote for El rio De Tiempo. The first time I actually went to Mexico and the people in the market were chasing us and lowering their prices, all I could think about was that it was just like that ride! Life imitating art!

While we enjoy the Norway ride, and the love the food, I think my favorite part is the attention to detail. We always end up with lots of pictures of the World Showcase. On one of our recent trps, we had fun locating the Beauty and the Beast stained glass window in France! So subtle - we had walked past it many times without realizing the story it told.

WS is certainly no substitute for visiting the real places, but it's fun to imagine for a few minutes.

Sorry ofr the rant, but:

Our family does think that it's time to add a few countries. AK attempts to have a few of the missing places, but it's a little bothersome that many of them are the traditional cultures that were represented in zoos/sideshows once upon a time (As in, once upon a time our country used to display African pygmies like zoo animals in display areas) - and AK is sort of zoo-like.
I mean how much are American kids taught about African culture? Largely we're only taught about African animals (When did you first learn the word 'zebra'? - Oh, and we learn some about ancient Egypt.), and AK plays into that aspect of American culture. At least the WS has Morocco.

I think WDW would do much to add a sub-Saharan African nation (other than SA) to the WS. I'd also like to see Poland, New Guinea, Greece, and Brazil (or maybe Chile). What if they added a Turkish pavillion? Russia? North Korea? - Could a pavillion at WDW help to improve our relations with some of these places? Would it show respect? I think it would be really refeshing to see some of these places portrayed in a positive light for a change. Maybe we wouldn't seem so foreign to each other after all.

O our last trip I drank myself around the world and had each of the CM's wirte something in a passport I got there...It was a lot of fun.

Perhaps my fav is to sit witha beer and a pretzel and just look out over the lagoon and listen to all the different sounds.

I enjoy poking around the nooks and crannies of each country. There are details you'd miss (like the Hidden Mickey in the train garden in Germany) if you rush by.

Also, if cms are not busy, it's fun to talk to them. They are natives of the country they represent in Epcot and are proud to tell you the details of their country.

Have a drink or snack in each country! I have not done this yet, but we're close to eating our way around the world.

We just like an evening stroll around WS in the evening, just taking in the atmosphere.

We *love* having lunch at France. The ham & cheese sandwich (the "Monte Cristo," I think...) on their deliciously yummy bread is to die for! It's the first thing we do when we get to Disney! Also, the grounds at Canada are beautiful. The garden, the waterfall (on your way back to see the movie) are truly picture-worthy. Also, we always go on the ride inside Mexico -- even though the song stays in your head just as much as "It's a Small World" does!

And that candy lady in Japan was on the Rosie O'Donnell Show back in 2001 when Rosie was there! I taped her Disney episodes and just watched them the other day.. I can't wait to get some candy from her! She made a candy Rosie. lolol.

I love watching British Invasion in England. I had my picture taken with them last week, LOL.

How did you get your picture taken with them, if you don't mind me asking?
My DH just absolutely loves the Beatles and is so excited to go see this group in June. It would make his trip to get a picture with them!

We love to eat and drink around. And we LOVE illuminations! Our favorite nighttime show there, we saw it 4 times our last trip. Made it a point to see it from every side to see which we liked better.

They do a little bit of interaction with the crowd on the way back into the building after the show. Just hang around in that area, tell them you enjoyed the show, and ask if they'd mind posing for a picture. BTW, don't forget to get there a little bit early, grab some Fish 'n Chips before the show, and get a nice seat up front. Have fun!

1. On a hot afternoon there's nothing better than the dark, cool, comfortable theatre in France. I love to sit back, relax and listen to the beautiful music. The movie is great, but it is also a good place to get a nap.
2. We spend at least 1 hour in the store in Japan.
3. We enjoy eating in Germany when the band is playing.
4. One of my top 3 rides in all of WDW is Maelstrom.

I'm with the posters that enjoy the beverages of each country. Last time my hubby and I went, he made us passports to wear around our necks. In each country, as we ordered a beer, we had the server sign our passports - they made a wonderful souvenir.

My husband's wording, on the passport he made for us, said something like, "We are drinking a beer in each World Showcase country. If we seem disoriented, please point us in the direction of the Beach Club resort so that we may stumble home."

In World Showcase, I really love the stores in China and Japan. I also used to eat at the restaurant in Norway (I won't ever try to spell it)everytime I went and loved it.

I really love the Voices of Liberty in the American Adventure and some of the best shows that I never got to video tape have been in the Ampitheater in front of that pavillion. I also enjoy all of the videos about the countries and the rides that Norway and Mexico have.
