I know this topic has been done before, but it being October, I'm in the mood for a good creepy film. My top two "scary" movies are in my signature...I love both those flicks. I've seen them too many times to count and I honestly get chills each time I watch them.

What creepy films should I rent from Netflix this month? No slasher flicks, please. I can't stand the Jasons and the Freddy Kreugers and the Hellraiser type flicks. I want something that is genuinely "creepy."

Any thoughts? What are your favorites?

It so ironic that you ask this, a friend and I were talking over lunch about this!!! She highly recommended White Noise, which I think I may pick up this weekend!

Oh and Rosemarys Baby...whoa that one freaked me out!!

I love scary/horror movies, and Jeepers Creepers seriously freaked me out! Jeepers Creepers II - ah, not so much.

Non-slasher scary movie....The Innocents with Deborah Kerr....very good flick!

Some violence and more suspense than scary, but keeps you on the edge of your seat - See no Evil with Mia Farrow...

If they have it, get the original version of The Haunting. Make sure that it's not the cheesy remake. Also try Lost Voyage a spooky low budget film and The Ring.

I watched Shaun of the Dead this weekend on HBO. It was funny and gross--the perfect combination. DH heard me laughing and came up to investigate and saw some gross zombie and thought I'd gone off the deep end. :teeth:

I HATED Jeepers Creepers...thought it was good until the end....one of my favorite movies that made me jump was "What Lies Beneath" just little stupid things that happened scared the geebies out of me!!!

If you've seen The Ring, The Ring 2 is out now. Not as good as the 1st, imo, but worth a watch! Did you see Saw? You gotta see that one!

Guess I'm gonna have to get Jeepers Creepers and see why everyone likes it so much.

Shaun of the Dead is really good, not sure if it has the creep factor you want though.

Try "The Attic Expeditions" or "In the Mouth of Madness." "Saw" is also a good choice. The plot makes up for the abysmal acting. Also "Cube" -- and if you like that one, it has a prequel and a sequel (Cube Zero and Cube 2: Hypercube, respectively).

Was that not the best!?!

Jeepers Creepers - yeah, the end left a bit to be desired - but the rest was definately.....creepy.

Saw might not be the best choice if someone doesn't want slasher though. Not that Saw was typical but it was pretty brutal.

I liked Jeepers Creepers too. It was a pretty good movie particularly considering the silly name. :)

What's shocking to me is that I've seen a lot of these flicks already...and I thought I wasn't a scary movie buff.

- I honestly liked Jeepers Creepers and didn't think I would.

- I work at a movie theater to get me through college and I've unfortunately seen the ends of Saw and White Noise so I have zero desire to see them.

- I've seen The Innocents and liked it.

- I may have to check out The Attic Expeditions and In the Mouth of Madness.

- Saw Cube and thought it was just okay...really wanted to like it but I was just kind of ho-hum with the whole thing.

Any other ideas? Keep 'em coming...

Definitely Saw!! It's not hack and slash like Halloween/Friday 13th or Nightmare, it's an intelligent thriller. Yeah, there are some pretty gross scenes but it's a horror movie!

More a psychological thriller, but did you see The Others with Nicole Kidman?

Another vote for White Noise; it was pretty scary, DW was up all night after watching it.

Psycho
Rosemary's baby
Rear Window
Jeepers Creepers
Night Of the Living Dead (original, black and white)
The Birds
TCM(original and remake)
Resident Evil (1 and 2)-for the sheer level of gore, if not the creep factor
Bram Stokers Dracula
Ju-on
The Grudge
The Ring-just for the ickyness level
The Others
Wrong Turn

I am a BIG horror fan, I can go on and on and on. this is just off the top of my head.

I am ashamed to admit that the scariest movies I have ever seen were Scary Movies 2 and 3. I love Scary Movie 3, though. It is one of the funniest movies I have ever seen.

I might have to rent Jeepers Creepers too just to see what its all about.

My pick for favorite scary movie.....CANDYMAN!!!!!!!!!! That movie creeps me out just thinking about it. The music for it is creepy and perfect.

White Noise didn't scare me very much. I was actually disappinted in it.

Wrong Turn - rent that them come visit me and my family. :rotfl2:

Saw - creeped me out a little, still can't get over the ending. Not sure if I could do it. :earseek:

The Ring - scared me I'll admit it.

Wasn't Wrong Turn with Eliza Dushku, Faith from Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Maybe I have my movies mixed up.
