Just one of those curious questions! What is your favorite resort and why? We have stayed in several different ones through the years and we know what we like, but why do some of you choose the ones you do? We have a family of 5, so lower price resorts don't work for just one room! We also like convience. Thanks to all!

I suggest you browse through the last several pages of threads. There were several polls about this very issue. In the moderates PO would sleep 5.

The Polynesian because: (no particular order)
Tropical Theme
Nice Rooms / Good Lagoon View
Volcano Pool
Monorail/Bus/Boat Access
Marina
Short hop to MK
Excellent Cast Members
Water Parade

I share your "pain" in having 5 in our family. That leads us away from the less expensive rooms unless it's just my wife and I traveling.

We were spoiled on our very 1st trip to WDW when we stayed at the Poly. All of us loved it, talk about relaxing! The atmosphere put the kids in a great mood to boot! I am looking forward to when we have a chance to try out the concierge services.

On our next family trip we were lucky enough to be upgraded to concierge at the AKL...long story. WOW WOW WOW!! If you want a run down of that trip you can search for my reviews or ask me and I'll email them to you.

Even when my DW and I went alone and stayed at ASMu we had a great time and never had any complaints.

Overall, I would have to say that our favorite is AKL. But it was so close to our experience at the Poly that I am sure that it was the concierge services and staff that put it over the top.

We have a 5 year old daughter, and our favorite is the Contemporary. Of the hotels we've been at, it's the least themed, but it's the one that makes me think I'm in the Magic Kingdom the most! We recently stayed in the Tower with a Magic Kingdom view - phenomenol! We literally felt we were in the Magic Kingdom all day and night! The concourse has that kind of feeling, and that meant a lot to us.

We have stayed at POR, just last year, and we really enjoyed it, but our DS are almost too big to fit in the beds! That is ;my one gripe! Double beds are really too small for two! We have a king at home, and sleeping in a double on vacation is really hard! We really enjoyed the Wilderness homes at FW. (Even though they are doubles too!!) The kids enjoyed all there is to do at the campground, but DH didn't like the walk to the bus stop! We will probably book a home again for 2005, but we really would like to do either Poly or WL. The pics from their seem really awesome!

We really have never had a bad or even a so-so experience with any of the resorts. They all have the ability to make your trip a fantastic experience. I guess this is why we all go back again, and again, and again, etc..........:bounce:

My one dream is when all the kids are big enough that we won't feel guilty about going without them!! DH and I really can't wait for that time! But with one 16, one 12 and then a 5 yo, it will be awhile!

Still, it is interesting to hear everyone else's reasons for their choices! Thanx for good reading!

my favorite is the Yacht Club:
theming, location, service! we are spoiled by the concierge!

Polynesian migth be number 2, because the theming is just such an amazing tropicl paradise!

Love the Boardwalk, Beach Club villas and also the Grand Floridian!

Laura :)

8 days til WDW!!!!!!! my birthday at the Yacht Club!!! yippee!!

The Wilderness Lodge is literally the best resort on Disney World property. The theming is awesome.

Slowly working our way around the resorts...
So far CSR is my favorite, with AKL second...

My family's favorite resort is the Contemporary. The tower is great, the MK view is amazing! There's lots to do there with the arcade, pools, playground, boat activities and shopping at the concourse. You can take the boat over to Ft. Wilderness and Wilderness Lodge. You can take the monorail to Epcot and MK and you can walk to the MK which is a major perk. I really enjoy walking to the MK in the morning, it's quiet and peaceful and the monorail zips by above you. It's also nice to beat the monorail crowds after parades/fireworks and walk back to the resort. I love breakfast at the Concourse Steakhouse and the dinner is good there too. There's also Chef Mickey's and California Grill. The rooms are large and bright. The atmosphere is wonderful!

My first on site stay was the CR way back in ????? I was a sophomore in high school and there was only the CR , Poly and the Golf club. I remember we finally got there and got settled in to go to bed. We had a room looking at the lagoon. Just as we were almost asleep at 10 PM, we jumped out of bed at the loud music and flashing lights!! It was the Electric Light Parade! It really startled us, but what a memory! We all ran out on the balcony and my brother and I were most embarassed because our Dad was in his underwear! Everytime I see that parade, I remember that story. Our trip during the millenium celebration we stayed at FW and went down to the lagoon to watch ELP with our children. It was a special memory to tell them of their Pop-pop who had passed on several years ago. We really enjoyed our stay in the Contemporary. I still have the Characature drawing we had done down in the game room. Even with the changes, it still is the neatest place!

Our favorite is AKL... after staying there, I don't think we will try anywhere else!!!

but my fave is Beach Club. My second fave is Yacht Club.

Why? Why indeed!

Stormalong Bay
The boardwalk area - all the shopping & dining
Walking to Epcot and MGM
Love the theming

Of the resorts we've stayed at WL is by far our favorite! Love the theme and the music through out the resort. The pool is great and he geyser is something to see. Easy access to MK by boat. Hiking trail that leads to Ft. W. Comfortable rooms and freindly cast.

Second would be POFQ. We were with our grandkids on that trip and they loved the pool with the dragon slide. It's a very pleasureable ride down the Sassagoula River to DTD.

One thing I think is important to remember, we all have our own personal taste be it in resorts or restaurants. And isn't wonderful that Disney gives us such a wide variety to choose from!

My fav is POR. It certainly doesn't have the amenities or convenience of the deluxes, but it's just something about the themeing that I really enjoy. I like how spread out it is, the foodcourt, the waterwheel, the Disney dixie music, the quiet pools that are always practically empty, and taking walks along the river while my wife and young son nap. I like visiting the deluxes for dinner, and we stayed at the WL one trip, but I found myselft missing POR.

It's lucky everyone's tastes vary, or else we'd all be fighting for the same rooms.

This is tough but I'll give it a try. Here's the rankings of where we've stayed so far-

WL and AKL- I can't decide between the WL and AKL, I loved them both. Rooms- I loved both but the edge goes to the WL, courtyard view over savannah because I'm not an animal lover. Food- goes to AKL, loved the Mara. Pool- AKL. Grounds- WL because there more places to walk around, loved the water parade at night! Lobby- A tie I loved them both. I told you I can't decide-lol

POR- beautiful, very quiet, great food court, stayed in Parterre Place, a mansion room.

POFQ- very pretty, quiet, fun boat to DTD.

CR- It was fun but not my favorite place. We were in a garden wing, might try a tower one day for a few nights but not a whole vacation.

ASSp- fun, great value, loved the food court. Probably won't go back because I'd like to try the Movies for a few days one time.

ASMu- Liked Sports better, wouldn't go back.

I can't really place the Polynesian in the ranks because my visits there(3times) were as a child.

Can you guess mine? And for every reason you could imagine.

:earsgirl: the poly.... loved the poly....everthing about the place....we have stayed at FRQT my10 year old says this is her favorite and my 13 year old likes AKL and my DH likes WL...but in my opinion it is the poly.....heads above the rest..amy

For concierge I pick the Poly

For a regular room AKL ( may change when we do AKL conc. in Nov!)
