There are differences between the Home Away from Home resorts and the Deluxes. The check-in time is later "after 4pm" instead of "after 3pm". The deluxes offer full daily housekeeping at no additional charge. This is not true at the Home Away from Home resorts.

I don't think the 2 reasons you stated above is that important if there is a family of 5-6 people going and they wanted more room, space, and privacy.. And I did list facts about OKW,BWV,VWL.(1,2,3 BR's,stove, jacuzzi, valet parking, etc);)

That is the point. You do not think that the late check-in time and no full daily housekeeping are important but others might. Therefore all of the facts should be given not just the positive ones.

Secondly the fact that I was referring to the most is your instance and others on this thread on calling these Deluxe resorts when Disney does not consider them in the Deluxe category. They are in the Home Away from Home category.

If someone calls up CRO thinking that OKW is a deluxe resort and asks the rep what he/she has available at the deluxe resorts there is a good probability that the rep would not even look up OKW because it is offically a Home Away from Home.

The point is the OP posted a poll asking what everyone's faviorate Deluxe Resort was. The DVC resorts were correctly not included in the poll because they are not Disney Deluxe resorts. Yet people even indicated that the OP should not have included the Swan/Dolphin but should have included the DVC resorts. Doing this is factually incorrect. If someone who does not know anything about Disney reads this thread they would have incorrect information and not fully understand that Deluxe Resorts and Home Away from Home resorts are different.

I agree with you that a large family or traveling party that does not mind doing their own cooking and clean while on vacation to save money would prefer a Home Away from Home over a Deluxe. That does not mean that we should classify resorts differently then the way Disney does just because we do not agree with how Disney classificed the resorts.

Wow, I just wanted to post a simple poll about "Deluxe" resorts. :p Didn't want to start any arguments

I voted GF but could easily have gone with AKL or WL.

Not arguing DrKnow77. Just stating facts.

If one calls CRO and asks for a Deluxe resort, will CRO even mention the Swan or Dolphin? Does CRO book for them?

I voted for the Boardwalk, though it is really a tie between Boardwalk and AKL. The best vacation for me is a split between the two!

Would have to pick AKL because we just returned from there and it was awesome!! I also like the WL and the Poly. Out of those 3, my husband and son liked Poly the best! I think because of more transportation options and the elec. water parade.

I have to say that those reasons are important to me and we only travel as a group of 3. If it doesn't have daily maid service included then it is just another condo as far as I'm concerned. I do not consider it a vacation if I have to make my own bed or even look at a kitchen. That is why I could never bring myself to buy into the vacation club. I know many love being DVCers and saving all that money but I'd rather spend more and get more. :D

I still would vote for Old Key West. Stay in a Grand Villa and tell be thats not deluxe.

Terry,
We have been DVC members for 4 years and haven't cooked 1 meal in the kitchen. It is nice to have though washer, dryer(less clothes to pack),frig, jacuzzi, couch, love seat, living room, balcony all in a 1BR. We go to OKW 2-3 times a year just the wife and I and always get the 1BR.We like the extra space.
As to making the bed it takes us 2 minutes. ;)

I voted for the Polynesian!

As far as home away from home resorts not having maid service, aren't the Wilderness Cabins considered home away from home but don't they get daily maid service? They actually ought to be on this list if one were going by price.
