I'm soooooo excited! I'll be in DL in almost 2 weeks :woohoo:. I was hoping for some last minute help from everyone, are there any restaurants (CS or TS) that are your favorites to share meals? I feel like everyone says that so many places have large portions, and I'm one of those people who doesn't eat much at meals (but i makes up for it with delicious snacking ) so i'm hoping for a few places we can share meals so we're not wasting food or money. I appreciate any suggestions!!

At house of blues the Chopped salad and an appetizer were plenty for 2.

My DH and I usually share meals too!

Our absolute favorite place is La Brea Bakery in DTD. Huge portions whether breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

We've also easily shared the enchilada platter at Rancho del Zocalo and salads at Pizza Port.

Have a great trip!

We share at Plaza Inn - we get the fried chicken (1/2 of a chicken) and add a side salad. We also share at Taste Pilot's in DCA. DH will get the 5 rib platter and so will DS 14, then I eat DS's coleslaw and some of DH's ribs and we're good to go! We've shared the Lobster Nachos at Cove Bar in DCA - those were yummy!

We hate to be full when we're walking around DLR and we also hate to waste food, so we share all the time and if we're still hungry, we get something else!

DH and I like to share too! That way we have room for yummy snacks! :goodvibes
We have shared at Cafe Orleans- DH got the Monte Cristo and I got Pommes Frites (really good fries) and it was plenty to share! The Monte Cristo is extremely filling!
The best to us were the Nachos at Whitewater Snacks. They are huge and oh so good!!!
Oh, and soup bread bowls are good to share too!

I am going to write down some of these suggestions. I am a lite eater, and would rather eat when I am hungry opposed to having to make plans ahead.

Thanks for the suggestions already. I look forward to reading more, since I don't get to Disneyland often, and I haven't eaten before at a lot of the different restaurants.

I will definitely try La Brea, my husband LOVES breakfast but i'm more of a toast and several servings of caffiene type, so that sounds perfect for us!

That sounds like the perfect portion for us, great suggestion :)

We like to share at Rancho Del Zocalo, at Pizza Port (we get 3 slices of pizza, 1 salad and foccacia bread, it's plenty and sometimes we have a hard time finishing it all), DBF and I share at Plaza Inn, 1 plate of chicken & potatoes and 1 side salad is plenty. We like to share at Cafe Orleans too, what we usually do is order the Pomme Frites and the family shares them, then DBF gets a Monte Cristo and I get the soup and or salad and I eat 1/3 of his sandwich and he eats some of my gumbo and or salad. :) CO does charge a split plate fee so we do it that way to avoid the charges. We've never shared at TPG because we both love the bleu cheese burgers so we each get one. In DTD we share at RFC, we get an appetizer and then the Maya Combo and it's so much food sometimes we can't even finish that. :) I'm trying to think where else we share but I think that's it, other places we will share full meals but not split them. At the French Market I really like the baked pasta, DBF gets something else but we split the main entree most times.

Rancho del Zocalo has the citrus lime chicken. It's 1/2 a chicken, rice, beans and tortillas. The other night we got 2 orders, a bag of the lemon chips, and a fruit plate. For about $40, we fed 3 adults and 3 children.

The sandwiches at Carnation Cafe are huge. Paired with a couple of cups (or bowls :lovestruc) of the loaded baked potato soup, it's a very filling meal.

Yum! That sounds tasty...we will have to try that when we are there in 19 days!:dance3:

These are all places we split meals at too, although we have never been charged a split plate fee at Cafe Orleans. My mom and I always share the Monte Cristo too. :goodvibes

We like to share meals at White Water Snacks. The nachos are HUGE! We also share the footlong hot dog along with fries, plenty for two eaters! If you are eating breakfast in the parks, the rolls at the bakery on main street are unbelievable and could be shared by two or even three people. I usually get a container of fruit from the fruit cart and watch all of the other people in our group fill their stomachs with the enormous rolls.

Tast Pilot's Grill - we split the 5 rib combo

Riverbelle Terrace - we split the turkey sandwich which also comes with beans, 1 side and a pickle spear

Pizza Port - chicken fuscilli and breadsticks

Rancho del Zocalo - I got the enchiladas which we didn't split but we should have!

Rancho and Cucamunga: DH and I split the platters, whichever vegetarian one we get that day.

Plaza Inn: DH and I split the penne with marinara, and get one side salad. We leave stuffed.

Cafe Orleans: split the ratatouille and got a side salad. Both times I've done this, the server has let *us* do the splitting, and has not charged the fee.

ancient info that doesn't count anymore: Blue Bayou: DH and I have split the portobello dish, they've done it in the kitchen, given both of us salads AND gave both of us 2 mushroom caps each, it was brilliant and WAY too much food. The second time, the server also gave us a second side vegetable (beyond the salad and whatever it is generally comes with the portobello). We WERE charged the split fee, of course.

Oh, and the counter service places don't care who orders kid's meals! I've gotten kid's burritos at the Mexican restaurants, I've gotten the kid's meal of penne with marinara at Plaza. They come with a small bottle of water (or ~8 oz soda), and apple slices, and sometimes carrots...so you're actually getting more food. And if you're like me, and take the mickey shaped plates home (my son will eat almost anything put into them!), then it's a souvenir, too. :goodvibes

I always get the kid's meal at the Plaza Inn. Chicken leg, mashed potatoes, green beans and a drink. It's a perfect amount of food for me and so much cheaper. The cobb salad is also big enough to split.

We like to order a plain bread bowl at Boudine's and ask for plenty of butter to go with it. It's enough for 2 to share easily.
