Favorite Place to Eat

We generally are not fancy eaters. We prefer:
MK: Pecos Bill's(fabulous condiment bar for dressing up your selection)
EPCOT: Electric Umbrella(CS), Le Cellier, La Pattisserie(this is a must-so several times during a trip), Chefs de France
HS: Backlot Express
AK: Tusker House
DTD: Earl of Sandwich
Resorts: Boma! @ AKL

I am wondering, do you all think that certain regions of the country prefer one restaurant over another region? For example I am born and bread in the north east (Boston area) I find my taste in fish & chips and meatloaf tend to be different than southern folks. (i prefer my fish not deep batter fried, but more pan batter fried and I like my meatloaf with a tomato soup topping as opposed to brown gravy.) BTW if my clam chowder had tomato in it I don't know what I'd do. :confused3

I don't think anyone has mentioned Narcoosee's yet at the Grand Floridian. Exquisite! We dined supremely with a view of Cinderella's castle across the water, and then enjoyed the fireworks. The appetizers, entree selections and dessert offerings are second to none.

We'll be back for just five nights on the next trip, and we're planning on lining up Narcoosee's, California Grill, Ohana (fun, and sooo much good food), Sci Fi and Coral Reef. It's a bit strange to be ordering seafood while you see it all swimming by!

I loved Brown Derby too, at HS. The CMs cruising the tables (playing aging actors) were an absolute riot.

We are not into big expensive meals...and we've been enticed into them through that Disney Magic and more disappointed than not. I continue to say that most restaurants within the parks are mediocre at best. But I have some odd places I guess -- some cheap some a splurge.

Downtown - Earl of Sandwich wins. We've done Bongos, House of Blues, Fultons......all a ton of money for so-so food. T-Rex was so loud I had a huge headache (although the dinos were very cool!!!) Just give me a very good sandwich at Earl's and a glass of wine and I'm happy.

Resorts - For burgers we go to Big River Grille on Boardwalk and they have outstanding beer choices. For more money and if you're really hungry, Cape May is a wonderful buffet (Beach Club). For really wonderful (pricey) food -- Flying Fish. For great Mexican, Pepper Market at Coronado. Oh and believe it or not, the Beach Club has a grab and go Roast Beef and Brie sandwich to just die for.

MK - Nothing. I'll wait till I get to the resort. I think everyone should do Cinderalla Castle just once for the experience. But they rush you in and then rush you out like cattle. Nothing special...although the kids love it and that's why we do it isn't it? We've done Tony's, Liberty Tree...ok not so great that you happily pay the bill. Haven't done Crystal Palace in all my years so that is on my list to try.

Animal Kingdom - Tusker House is very good.

Epcot - Don't waste your money on the table service restaurants in World Showcase. Just kiosk it around the World and save yourself money.

Hollywood Studios is my worst place. Prime Time is never consistent. Food is bland but you are suppose to be there for the fun....sometimes you get it, sometimes you get NOTHING. Very inconsistent. Brown Derby will tell you they are out of a specific wine to get you to order a more expensive wine. I know that trick..never again. I would however go to Mama Melrose's again...good food....yum. Sci Fi has junky food, but again...it's an experience everyone should do at least once!

I think you can find great places to eat without spending a ton of money and without having to use the dining plans. That's always my goal...but as the cost of dining goes up....well...I just might have to reconsider that.;)

We love Tutto Italia and Kona Cafe. Our favorite CS places are Earl of Sandwich, Wolfgang Puck Express and Columbia Harbor House. We also enjoy Chef Mickey's.:goodvibes

this is so great! me and my family will be going to a Disneyland this holiday season. just not sure which Disneyland, though..my parents are surprising us. knowing the good places where to eat will surely save us time. :)

@ Magic Kingdom
-Cosmic Rays- They have pretty much everything you could possibly get all in one place so you have a lot to pick from at one time. The ribs are awesome!
(Honerable Mention to the Noodle Station which is only open seasonally. BOO! Open it year round! They have the best food!)

@ Animal Kingdom
-Yak and Yeti- Both the counter AND table services are thumbs up! The quick service is great for a grab and go. Mostly everything comes in an easy to carry container, and it's good too.

@ Studios
Table Service
-Sci Fi Dine In- LUNCH, not a fan of dinner. It's fun to watch all the bad B movie clips while you eat. Basic diner foods, but good food never the less.
Counter Service
-ABC Commissary- I love the fact you can get Chicken Curry and fish sandwiches, things other then just a park burger. Or... you could get a burger. It's really the only counter service at Studios I will eat. As other have said, Studios Counter serive kind lacks.

@ Epcot
Table Service
-Resturant Marikees (Spelling?)- Morroco. Hidden away, a bit pricey, but very good food!
Counter Service
-Yakatori House- Japan. Oh man, the Sukiyaki beef. I could live on the Sukiyaki beef for a month! At once point during my CP program... I think I ate there three times in three day period.
(Honerable mention to Tangerine Cafe in Morroco AND the Fish and Chips place in UK! Epcot has LOTS of good food!)

@ DTD
Earl of Sandwich- Tasty. What more should I say? It's true.

@ Resorts
Boma- Four words... Curried Coconut Seafood Stew. BEST soup I have EVER had. Really different flavor combonation and dishes you have never seen before, but will fall in love with from the first bite. Sweet YET spicy just what I like!

Our favorite counter service meal during our recent trip was Columbia Harbor House. Our favorite table service was at Boma at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. The kids loved the choices that they had for them. They ate corn on the cob and strawberries like crazy! The choices for the adults were good too. We especially liked the different soups.

We just booked ADR's for Chef Mickey's breakfast buffet at the Contemporary. The menu looked great and it was one of the cheapest character dining I could find. :woohoo:

We just returned from a trip beginning of October and ate at Chef Mickeys for breakfast. Not impressed, food was just OK and not a lot of variety. Went to Tusker House a few days later and hands down was WAY better in variety and Quality. Next time will skip Chef Mickeys and repeat Tusker House!

Great topic!!!!!

MK- liked Crystal Palace for dinner, thought the salad bar had a huge variety of different combinations and such. Plenty of main dish selections and dessert too. Cosmic Ray's was a good counter service, something to please everyone. Also the main street bakery is a great place to get a treat at night while wating for the parade or fireworks. Good variety. And no one can leave without having a Dole Whip. THe BEST ever, wish I had one right now!

Epcot- Our personal favorite table service-San Angel Inn in Mexico, a must when we go. Great food and beautiful atmosphere. Teppanyaki is fun too- your typical Benihana experience. Have to have a pastry from the bakery in France as well.

HS- We love the Brown Derby, expensive unless you're on the dining plan. The cobb salad is the best!!! Also, CS is good at the ABC commissary-lots of variety besides burgers.

AK- Tusker house was one of the best buffets we have had at Disney. We had breakfast here last trip and would be willing to try lunch or dinner there as well. This beats Chef Mickey's by far! Flame Tree BBQ for CS is great. We were able to share meals, portions are huge.

Resorts- At the Poly-Kona Cafe-if you can't get into Ohana's they have the same tonga toast and macadamia pancakes everyone raves about and let me tell you they are Awesome!!!
Coronado Springs- Pepper Market- lots of variety and quick to get your order.

Hope this helps someone!!! Happy eating!

I am glad to hear everyone has enjoyed Kona because we are eating there for our first time in December.

I will agree that Earl of Sandwich was a pleasant surprise. Good selection & huge sandwiches. Our favorite dinner on this last trip had to be Teppan Edo. It was a lot better than we expected. We didn't care that much for Kouzzinas, but really liked The Wave.

We just tried Boma on the last trip & everyone was planning a return before we had even paid the bill

Please keep the suggestions coming...I'm planning for 8 of us in June and need help deciding where we should get our ADRs!!!!! Love all the help so far:love:

Our 2 must do's each trip are the California Grill and Yachtsmans Steakhouse. I think we might also add Boma to that list too. We also really enjoyed Mama Melrose and Le Cellier which we will also eat at next trip. Each trip we try to eat at somewhere new, next trip we will be trying Victoria and Alberts and Narcoossees. As for counter service we like Yak and Yeti in AK (we might try the sit down there next trip).

Oh and in regards to the Hitler clips (there are more of the BTW!!) my husband says my Disney planning is like that, all I need is the little men on the map to show the plan of attack!!

The "must do" restaurants for me are San Angel Inn & Sci-Fi. The atmosphere can't be beat!

Also, Earl of Sandwich because it's super tasty :)

Harbor House, Sci-Fi, Alfredos in Italy, Chef Mickeys, Ohanas.

But I refuse to eat at The Whispering Canyon!!
